Chan winced as the staff member's grip tightened on his arm, pulling him harshly to the side.

The corridor was empty, save for the echoes of their footsteps and the distant hum of company chatter.

Chan's heart pounded in his chest, his breath coming in quick, shallow bursts.

He had been enduring this mistreatment in silence for weeks, afraid that speaking up would only make things worse.

"You're useless."

The staff member spat, their face twisted in anger.

Chan didn't dare to look up, his eyes fixed on the floor. He felt a sharp pain shoot through his arm as he was pushed against the wall.

"Please, stop."

Chan whispered, but his voice was barely audible.

At that moment, Minghao rounded the corner, his steps faltering as he took in the scene before him.

His usually calm demeanor shifted to one of concern and anger.

Without hesitation, he rushed over, his presence immediately commanding attention.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing?"

Minghao's voice was firm, his eyes blazing as he stepped between Chan and the staff member.

The staff member's grip loosened in surprise, and they took a step back, their expression quickly morphing from aggression to defensiveness.

"This is none of your business."

The staff member muttered, but the threat in their voice had diminished.

"Actually, it is,"

Minghao retorted, his tone icy.

"You can't treat people like this. Now, leave him alone."

The staff member glared at Minghao but seemed to think better of pushing further.

With a final, disdainful look at Chan, they turned and walked away.

As soon as they were out of sight, Minghao turned to Chan, his expression softening.

"Are you okay?"

He asked gently, his eyes scanning Chan's face for any signs of injury.

Chan nodded, though he could feel the tears welling up.

"I'm fine, just... thank you."

He managed to say, his voice trembling.

Minghao placed a comforting hand on Chan's shoulder.
