I was on the floor.
Somebody had ran into me. Great. I tried to get up but the person who rammed into me was practically laying on top of me.
I looked at the person and saw that it was a guy. I didn't recognize him right away but once he turned toward me I remembered that it was the new guy. He had brownish green eyes. This guy was certainly cute. I think his name is Charlie.
He looked at me at tried to apologize. "I... I.. Uh.. Sorry I ran into you." He said gazing at the ground, his cheeks tinted red.
"Its cool. Can you get off of me now though? I can't really get up. And I'm going to be late for lunch." I asked politely.
"Uh.. Yeah.. Sorry." Charlie said again.
"Seriously its fine." I said, helping him collect his books.
"Um.. Would you be able to show me the way to the cafeteria? I'm still a little lost I'm not sure where it is." He asked sheepishly.
"Sure," I answered. I smiled at him and continued, "Follow me. Do you want to drop your books off or something?" I asked.
"Uh sure." Charlie lead me to his locker and stuffed his books inside.
We turned and headed to the cafeteria. I asked him, "Where did you move from?"
"San Francisco. Its quite different." He answered.
"Hope so." I laughed. He nervously laughed along. We kept chattering.
We stopped at the cafeteria. "This is it." I said.
"Thanks!" He smiled.
"No problem," I smile back. "See ya later." I said and walked into line. I grabbed my food and looked around for anybody from the team to sit next to.
I saw Mike and Craig, two midfielders, and Eric and Allen, the two forwards all sitting together. I walked over to join them. Mike and Craig had there backs to me but Eric and Allen could see me. I brought my finger up to my mouth in a 'shhh' gesture. They both saw and winked without being caught.
I came up behind Mike and Craig who were sitting shoulder to shoulder. I set my tray down in between them and sat in between them and started eating my spaghetti, strawberries, and brownie without looking at them. Eric and Allen were trying hard not to laugh. Mike and Craig looked very confused and shocked from what I could tell.
They both finally said, "What was that?"
Eric, Allen, and I then bursted out laughing. "I wanted to mess with you two so I did the first thing that came to mind."
"You squeezed in between us?" Craig asks.
"Looks like it," I replied, nodding, while taking a bite of my brownie. I put on my innocent face and just kept eating.
They looked at me with disbelief. "Aren't you gonna move?" Mike asked.
"Why would I? I'm in the middle of my lunch, sitting in between two of my friends." I reasoned.
"More like on top of," Craig mumbled. We all laughed and started talking about tryouts and anything else that popped up.
"Oh guys, I forgot to tell you, Alex has lunch with us too!" I exclaimed.
"Where is he?" Allen asked.
"Thats the funny thing." I replied. "He told me that during his second class, which was Pre-Calc, that he needed help on a problem so he raised his hand for help. His teacher, Miss Hennings, walked over to help him. He said that he understood it but that she kept rambling, so when she finally left he mumbled 'dummy' and I guess she heard and gave him detention during lunch." I explained. The four guys bursted with laughter.
"Leave it to Alex to get detention on the first day of school," Eric stated.
We all laughed again. The bell rang signaling lunch was over. We said our goodbyes and headed our separate ways. I grabbed my Pre-Calc book and headed to class.
After Pre-Calc I went on to Biology and Foreign Language. I finally had my free period, in which I finished my Pre-Calc, Biology, Public Speaking, and Foreign Language assignments.
I was satisfied with how much homework I had got done. I barely had anything to do for tomorrow.
The final bell rang signaling the end of the school day. Which meant the boys tryouts started soon.
I walked to my locked and shoved my books inside and jogged to my dad's car and opened the back with my extra key. I grabbed my soccer bag and ran to the women's locker room. I changed into the clothes I brought, my blue sports bra, my white cut-off with our school logo, the Alligators, and my last name on the back, Mason, my black athletic short shorts. I put my shinguards, socks and cleats on and grabbed my blue and red F-50 soccer ball.
I was the first person on the field besides my dad. I ran over to him and said hello.
I ran back to the middle of the field and started juggling. 1.. 2.. 3.. 4.. and so on. I got all the way up to 58 when, I heard all the guys coming.
Yes. Tryouts were starting. I was excited.
