I woke up Monday morning like usual. Except it wasn't a usual Monday. My dad wasn't home.
I started getting ready. I threw on a pair of jean shorts, and a thin blue pull-over hoodie. I put on my black converse, and walked into the bathroom. I put my hair in a messy bun, and walked out of the bathroom. I found my soccer bag, and tossed some practice clothes in there.
I carried all my bags downstairs, and made myself breakfast of two pieces of cinnamon toast.
I finished it quickly, and headed to Charlie's car, towing my bags with me. I chucked them in the trunk, and hopped into the driver's seat. I started the car, and pulled away from my house, driving to school.
I parked in my dad's space, and grabbed my backpack. Still standing by the car, I pulled my phone out. I called the hospital.
"Hello?" A female voice asked.
"Hi, my father is Joseph Mason, one of your patients, I need to speak with him," I said politely and business-like.
"What do you need to talk to him about? This phone is not able to move very far, so I will have to deliver your message to him," the nurse informed me.
"Can you ask him if he wants me to coach practice?" I asked.
"Sure, I'll be a moment," she answered. I heard her set the phone down, and walk away. I stood there impatiently waiting for the nurse to come back.
Minutes later I heard, "Hello? Are you still there?"
"Yes I'm here. What did he say?" I asked.
"He said yes, and that he loves you," she relayed back to me.
"Okay, thank you. Tell him I love him too, and that I will see him later today," I told the nurse.
"I will," the nurse assured me.
"Thanks. Bye," I said. I hung the phone up without waiting for a goodbye.
I slid my phone into my pocket and walked over to the whole team, near the tree. I did not see Alex or Charlie. I saw Henry and Ben, and headed for them.
"Hey guys, any sign of Charlie?" I asked.
"Nope sorry," Ben answered.
"Why you looking for him? Gonna have some fun?" Henry wiggled his eyebrows.
"No. I will though, later today, when I coach you at practice," I smirked. I said it loud enough that the whole team could hear me. Henry looked at me with wide eyes, while the whole team stared at me.
"No, no, no, no, no..." I heard coming out of many mouths. I saw heads shaking, faces being rubbed, and face-palms. It was quite funny to see the boys like this. I can understand why, but I'm a fun person. You just don't get on my bad side.
I chuckled at everyone. I continued chatting with the guys for a few minutes, then went inside to my locker.
I pulled out the materials I need for my Public Speaking class. Walking towards the classroom, I met up with Ben.
We started talking, while making our way to the classroom, and eventually our desks.
We sat down as Mr. Frank told everyone to settle down, as class was starting.
I zoned out of class, wandering through my own thoughts. I kept thinking as to why both Charlie and Alex weren't here today. I was a little nervous, wondering if something happened between them again.
Two classes later, in English, there was still no sign of Alex or Charlie. Mrs. James started class, and halfway through, there was an interruption. I was looking down at my notebook, when I heard the door open.
