Chapter Eight

"You deliberately disobeyed me Dot! Do you know how that makes me feel?" I try to block out this annoyance. She continues to nag me, acting like parent. She's so pretentious.

"Dotty!" She pinches my arm, and it feels like a bee.

"Ugh, what?" I exclaim at her as I finally make eye contact to her from gazing out the window. For once I actually want to get to school like the rest of the students as they make their way to the back gate.

Mother simply looks at me with no expression, like she forgot the whole conversation. It irritates me when she does this, which is always.

"Can I leave, i'm going to be late!"

"Yea. We'll talk when you get home." She says it like a robot, but I pay no attention to it. Instead, I let myself out of the car and wait at the crosswalk. As I forcefully press the pedestrian button, I look over, across the street and I spot him. He is coming out from a green Komodo. Perhaps it's his. He swindles his jacket as he walks to the sidewalk and begins to light yet another cigarette. What a surprise. He looks the same, with his dry curly hair covering his face, half-way torn jeans, and plain black t-shirt. As he gazes up from lighting his cigarette, his eyes wander off towards mine. I smile at him, and he chuckles. He's just standing there, waiting for someone.
The sign changes to the walking doll, and I proceed to walk. Once I reach the same sidewalk that he is in, he faces my direction as I reach for the gate.

"Little Miss Sunshine!" He yells to the crowd in between us with his hands in the air and the cigarette between his teeth. I immediately blush. Standing in front of him, I place my hands on my hips and a frown up at him.

"What? What's wrong with sunshine today?"

"You."

"Me? Oh boy. What did the majestee request that the peasant couldn't retrieve?"

"You put me on blast in front of everyone." Now crossing my arms for an explanation.

"Well you need to be presented to the school."

"You know very well that I started to enter school through the back to avoid that situation with Jasmine."

"How is Queen Bee, by the way?" He states with curiosity as he finished his cigarette.

"Freaking out, she lost her credit card and doesn't know where else to look." He begins to smile, as if he was waiting for me to say that. Something is up his sleeves. OMG, PInkberry!

"You have it!" I say surprised.

"Let's just say that I may know where it is."

"You need to give it back."

"One condition."

"There's no conditions with Jasmine."

"There is now if she wants it back."

"I'll tell her but she won't buy it. What do you want?"

"A little reunion. Between me and her." Oh, right. That makes sense. I feel down now, feel used in every way possible.

"So you pretend to befriend me to get to her?" I release my arms and begin to walk towards the gate.

"No wait," He runs in front of me and sure enough, he does stop me.

"It's not like you're her type anyway!" I say it as if I was beautiful Jasmine, but it's just my anger speaking. I want him to hurt like I am right now.

"No, not just us but you too."

"You are just like your cousin. Both inconsiderate asshole's." I'm not going to yell, to avoid an audience. Besides, it highlights the seriousness to this situation. He stops talking. He has nothing to say anymore. More people are coming through the gate and I take a quick glimpse at them and my body freezes. I become completely paralyzed. It's him. His hair is tied back into a tiny pony tail. It's difficult to recognize him since I can see his real face, not the one that hides behind his hair, but it's him. His eyes are filled with sorrow or maybe thrill to see me again. My blood begins to boil making me want to explode. My throat begins to close itself even when i don't have words to say to either of them. My stomach twirls in circles. Like cooking stew, we move it around and around and around, until everything is blended. All my agony and humiliation blended all together. Something behind the back of my eyes. No, they are going to come running down. A ray of salt water rushes down to my cheek. I look over at him, and all I see is betrayal. I can't do this again. I slowly walk down the hill. I can hear him follow. I immediately turn around. "Don't! Just stay away from me." I don't even look at him. I just walk away
