Chapter Eleven
My body feels weird. I suddenly feel it being hot in the atmosphere, the next I feel an itch all over my body. The heat crawls its way back in as I rub the back of my neck with my arm. The heat goes away, then I'm shaking my legs up and down, out of my control. My hair becomes an annoyance, making my back itch even more. i tie it lazily together. For a brief moment, I'm no longer feeling anything. No hot temperature rising up and down my body, no unexpected itch. But there he is. Sitting across the office from me. I immediately look away when our eyes meet. To avoid the act of a fool, I run my fingers on the top of my head and continue to look around the office.
I can feel his eyes on me, and it makes my body act up again. Anger is secretly within me, and it's beating me up for not speaking against his actions. Not just him staring at me like a freaking idiot but the whole thing. He just had to talk to me. He is just like his cousin, both assholes. I'm going to get a nosebleed if I don't speak.
"Would you stop staring at me? You're upsetting my stomach!" I whisper as much as I could but I'm sure the women in their offices can hear. He continues to look at me as he claps his hands together between his legs, as he crouches down.
"There are a lot of more important things than your damn stomach."
"Exactly, this is all your fault!"
"My fault?" He narrows his eyebrows and bolts his head backwards in disapproval.
"Oh, don't give me that look!" I state annoyed as I cross my right leg over my left and face to the right, away from him.
"I told you we should have left them. Besides, Jasmine attacked Kris."
"After he insulted her!"
"She basically threatened to kill us!"
"Tsk. You guys brought that on yourself." I cross my arms to signal the end of this meaningless conversation. I glare back at him real quick, and he has his head sunk lower than before. He reaches for his pony tail and removes the rubber band and rubs his hair side to side, exposing his curls and hiding himself from the world again. I lower my eyes, feeling a hint of remorse. He shoves his hands into his pockets from his jeans. HIs head bolts up in surprisement as he feels something in his pocket. He slowly takes out what looks like a pill and shoves it in his mouth. Once he swallows it, he pushes his hair back again, and for a brief moment I can see his face again. I come in contact with his eye, and he simply stares back again.
"Look away if I upset your fucken fat stomach." He says it more louder.
"Excuse me, language!" One of the women behind the counter in their offices.
"There he is. Told you, insincere apology." Seeing him for his true colors, I return the gesture and stare intently back at him. He looks away by returning to his low position.
Principle Hastings steps out of his office in the mid of the other intertwined offices that belong to the office women. His heavy breathing compares to someone in the olympics. He turns towards us and makes his way.
"C'mon, lets go." He gestures us to follow him. Calvin waits until I dispatch myself and begin my way towards Hastings, and he follows. Thinking we're entering his office is an understatement, for we enter what appears to be where the staff meetings take place. With one long rectangular table in the center with roller chairs surrounding it, and a suspenseful light directed to the center of the table. Upon arrival, I see Jasmine at the corner of the left table with the blanket covering her with her hands clasping the handle of a mug, with a hot liquid. Perhaps tea, that's her favorite as I see steam coming out of the mug. Kris is on the right corner of the table with his hands in front of him, still handcuffed, and him gazing at them. One police officer is set on each of their side. I rush towards Jasmine to sit next to her, but Hastings rejects the idea by making me sit across from her, on the same line with Kris but not close too him. Same for Calvin, he is seated across from Kris, same row as Jasmine but not even close to the police officer sitting by her, and exactly across from me. He ties his hair again, but in a half pony tail, allowing some hairs below his ear to reside.
