Manvi poured the food onto the plate and headed towards the guest room. She knocked on the door and said "Khushi.. Darwaza kholo"
"Main nahi jaungi!" Khushi yelled from inside in a cold tone.
"Main jaane ke liye nahi kah rahi hun khana laayi hun chalo darwaza kholo" Manvi spoke in a soft tone. Khushi didn't open the door, Manvi took a deep breath as she is stubborn like her father.
"Maine pehle bhi kaha hai na tumse khana pe gussa nahi nikalte hai chalo kholo darwaza.." Manvi again tries and after a minute Khushi opens the door with a scowl on her face. Manvi grabbed her hand and pulled her to the couch.
She showed her eyes and Khushi sat down on the couch. Manvi sat in front of her on the stool and mixed the rice with the curry. She forwarded the spoon filled to her mouth, Khushi looked away. Manvi stared at her and said "mere saamne toh apne yeh nakhre dikhana mat tum! Chup chap muh kholo" she scolded her.
Khushi looked at her and opened her mouth. Manvi feeds her and Khushi eats silently. Her eyes turn moist seeing the love and care in her eyes for her. The void in her life of a mother was slowly fading away.
Manvi smiled "chalo tum paani peeyo main yeh rakhke aati hun" . She got up and moved to the kitchen. She placed the plate into the basin and washed her hands.
She came to the hall and settled down beside her "Khushi.. Aise apne ghar se nahi aate hai" she started the conversation.
"Mujhe nahi baat karni hai uss baare mein" she refused to listen.
"Dekho tum.." she was about to explain but stopped when she heard the vehicle stopping. She panicked, if Dhruv saw her here he will question her or even mistreat Khushi which she doesn't want to happen. She got up from the couch and said "utho.."
Khushi was confused at her actions but got up. The doorbell rings and she gets anxious with it. Manvi grabbed her hand and took her to the store room. She said "jab tak main na kahu bahar nahi aana.. Koi awaaz mat karna please"
"Aap aise ghabra kyun gayi?" she asked
"Sawal mat karo! Rehna hai na.. Toh chup chap andar raho" Manvi said and closed the door.
Manvi rushed to the main door, she opened it and Dhruv stared at her doubtfully. He entered inside and scanned his eyes around. "Itna waqt kyun laga tumhe darwaza kholne mein?" he asked
"Bathroom mein thi" she replied
Dhruv gave her a look, he went to the bedroom to change. Manvi went to the kitchen and warmed the food. She then takes it to the dining table and serves it to him. "Sharmaji bata rahe they ghar ke saamne ek auto ruka tha.. Kaun aaya tha itni raat ko?" he asked her.
Manvi replied "ek student thi.. Uske exams aane waale hai toh bas kuch doubts clear karne aayi thi"
"Student wo bhi itni baarish mein? Kitni baar kaha tha tumse apna yeh job sab ghar pe leke mat aaya karo" he shouted at her.
She nodded, and he finished eating. She picked up the plate and he grabbed her arm tightly. She stared at him "chodiye.." she said in a low tone.
"Tumne nahi khaya hai.. Khao khana" he said
He pushed her down to the chair and forcefully made her eat. She choked as he kept on pouring the food into her mouth. Tears slipped down her eyes and she coughed badly. "Ainda koi bhi student ghar ke aas paas nahi dikhna chahiye samjhi"
He received a phone call from his friend and left the house again. Khushi had witnessed this with the slight open door of the store room. She just couldn't believe what she had seen in front of her. She immediately came out and poured the water into the glass. Manvi drank the water and Khushi's eyes turned moist seeing her state. She couldn't see her in pain, she sat down beside her and grabbed her hand tightly.
