Festus could turn into a suitcase.
That's...not the weirdest thing he's ever seen.
Jace shouldn't be surprised at all the things Leo had added to Festus's design. But for some reason a giant metal dragon turning into a normal looking suitcase felt weird. Well, the suitcase wasn't exactly normal, it was made of the same colored bronze Festus had when Leo polished him.
Leo clearly couldn't lift it up and it made sense. Festus definitely weighed like—a thousand pounds. But, Leo didn't seem phased by that. Jace watched on as Leo clicked a button or did something else and wheels popped up from the bottom of it. He looked at the 'Festcase' with a frown. When did the kid have time to do that? He was with him the entire night and never saw him work on a suitcase.
"Ta-da! The world's heaviest carry-on bag!" Leo brandished the suitcase to them with a smile, clearly waiting for applause.
"How did something that big—?" Jason tried asking.
"When did you have time to do that?" Jace cut him off but did mumble a small sorry to the other blonde.
"Stop!" Zethes ordered just as Leo was about to answer Jace's question. Both he and Cal brandished their swords at them and before Jace even noticed, head pulled out his gun and had it pointed at the fugly guy. Sure he was cute but threatening him with a sword? That's over the line.
"Okay?" Leo raised his hands. "What's i do? If it bothers you so much I don't have to use the dragon as a carry-on." Jace cleared his throat to get Leo's attention.
"I don't think that's it—"
"Who are you?" Zethes inquired. "A child of the west wind spying on us?" Jace had no idea what Pants was on about but he didn't like the guy's tone. He shot at the ground next to him as a warning.
"You talk like that and the next ones between your eyes." Jace threatened. He wasn't playing around and he could see the glimpse of hesitation in Zethes' eyes as he looked at the bullet next to his brother's feet. It was still smoking and Pants realized it was celestial bronze and not your everyday bullet.
"Tell your friend to put down his weapon or we'll get violent." Pants spoke slowly but kept his eyes locked with Jace's. Cal let out a low growl at the mention of violence but didn't make a move to attack them.
"Jace, put down your gun." Jason commanded him. Jace hesitated but he knew it would be of no use to attack in their home turf. The Boreads had the higher power right now and he didn't like the odds they had. A fucking god was somewhere in this building and Jace knew he could do almost nothing against him.
"Fine." He lowered his hand but didn't holster his gun just yet. Jason clearly wasn't happy he still had the gun in hand but didn't say anything about it. Maybe he was smart enough to understand why Jace wouldn't put away his gun, at least Jace hoped he was. A dumb leader wouldn't be good.
"I repeat. Who are you?" Zethes repeated his question and directed it at Leo again but still kept his sword pointed at Jace while his other hand seemed to be stopping Cal from attacking them. Jace was sure he could take on Cal if he had to. Sure the guy was taller and bigger than him but Jace was sure he would have the upper hand in the battle if it got to that.
"Son of Hephaestus. Friendly blacksmith, no harm to anyone." Leo spoke up, he didn't have a weapon but neither did Piper. Jace and Jason would have to do most of the fighting if they had to. Leo spoke confidently, he seemed sure of himself when he said that and Jace was glad he wasn't shaking in his boots. He glanced quickly down at Leo's feet. In his boots.
Cal growled and moved closer to Leo. Jace readied his gun but took notice of the glance Piper shot him. He swallowed down the urge to just shoot Cal and let his gun stop halfway up. "Smell fire. Fire is bad." Cal spoke. The guy had been quiet for some time and Jace didn't understand what he had just heard at all. Yeah, human bodies are warm but they shouldn't smell like fire.
