The sound of the front door slamming open echoed through the house, making Y/n's mother jump in her seat. Kentarō, who was holding Y/n in his arms, reacted quickly and carried her to the couch, gently placing her down. "Mom, please get a warm washcloth," he said, his voice calm but urgent.

Y/n's mother nodded and hurried to the kitchen, her heart still pounding from the sudden noise. Kentarō's eyes never left Y/n's face, his expression a mix of concern and tenderness as he stroked her hair.

The boys stood, unsure of what to do, watching as their friend tried to wake up his twin sister. It was then that Iwaizumi saw the bruises forming on her chin from where her father had grabbed her. He felt terrible for not reaching her in time and blamed himself for not being attentive while walking.

"Stop making that face," Kentarō said firmly, meeting his gaze. "It wasn't your fault. It's mine for not leaving the school with her. I broke my promise to her."

Their mother returned with a warm washcloth and placed it on Y/n's forehead. Then, her fingers lightly grazed her chin. "It was your father, wasn't it?"

"Yes," He started. "Iwaizumi was there to protect her, and he stood in between them when he tried to take her."

"Thank you," their mother whispered, her voice barely audible "You've always been a big help to Kentaro, and now I can't thank you enough for being there for Y/n as well."

Unsure of what to say, Iwaizumi simply nodded, before letting his eyes drift to the girl who was still out cold on the couch. If he had been there just a moment earlier, could he have prevented this?

"Is she going to be okay?" Yahaba asked, looking up at the twins mother as he crouched beside the young girl, fingers on the pulse point on her wrist.

With a shaky sigh their mother slowly nodded, her eyes sweeping around the room full of worried teens. She was glad her daughter had found a group to support her in these times, even if she didn't know it yet herself.

"She should wake up soon," Kentaro explained, still holding the washcloth to his sisters head "She's never been out this long before though..."

"It was just a panic attack," their mother agreed "She used to get them a lot before big swim meets and competitions."

Oikawa, who was still stood by the door and the furthest away from the group slowly began to pull out his phone "Do I still need to call the police or..."

"No, that won't be neccessary," Their mother spoke as she noticed Kentaro about to start nodding "It's still raining rather hard and I wouldn't want any of you boys getting sick so please, feel free to wait out the weather here. I'll go and make tea if anyone would like it. Kentaro, go place your sisters in her room upstairs, I'll check on her in a few minutes."

"I'll help." Iwaizumi stated, walking up to his friend and petting him on the shoulder. He watched as Kentarō picked her up with caution and walked up stairs.

Once outside of Y/n's room, he got Iwaizumi to open the door before walking in. He gently placed her on the bed and pulled the blanket up over her.

"May I ask you something?" Kentarō asked softly, looking up at his friend. "How do you feel about my sister?"

He paused before answering, unsure about how he felt completely. "To be honest with you, I don't know."

As he left the room, he paused and waited for Kentaro to close the door behind him, before continuing to express his thoughts. "The moment she clung to me, it felt like my entire being was filled by an overwhelming need to ensure her safety. I would have done anything, even lay down my life, to protect her from any harm that might have come her way."

He leaned against the wall and ran his hand through his hair. "The fear in her eyes, I should have seen it sooner, and the way that he was grabbing her made me want to break his fingers."

Kentarō chuckled at the statement. "I feel the same way every time I see him."

"I don't even know the guy, I could just tell he was bad news the moment I laid eyes on him." He sighed. "But if I ever see him with her again, I'll happily step in between and protect her."

"And for that, you will always have a place in our hearts and home." Kentarō's mother spoke, startling the both of them. She giggled. "Something tells me that there's a little bit of romance brewing here."

"Mom, please don't start this again." Kentarō mumbled, feeling the embarrassment build up.

"Oh hush now," she said, "you know how I feel about this topic." He nodded, still feeling a bit unsure about the situation. "You know, you and I won't be able to keep her safe all the time," she continued, "and if I see a little bit of a connection forming between her and someone else, then I am going to push it to get it moving."

She placed a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I just want her to be happy, you know that."

"Mom!" Kentarō yelled, trying to stop her from talking. "Can you just go make sure she's alright?"

"Of course, dear." She laughed, patting them both on the shoulder and disappearing into Y/n's room.

"Sorry about her." He groaned, not wanting to face his brother. "This happens with most guys who show my sister a little attention."

"It's fine, that's what Mothers do." Iwaizumi chuckled, his face still a little pink. "We should head back downstairs and check on the others. They must be worried."

As they went down the stairs and entered the living room, they saw Oikawa and Yahaba sitting on the couch, sporting devilish grins. It was evident that the two had overheard everything that Kentarō's mother had said.
