Ch. 1 The Preface

We are all Human.

Humans have emotions.

Emotions vary.

People can feel happy, sad, angry, fearful, or in love.

But, some specific few can feel the emotions of those around them.

They call those individuals Empathic.

These individuals either use their ability for good or bad.

Many believe having the ability to feel those around them makes you weak.

However, no one knows that when you master this ability, you can be a deadly threat.

You can make anyone feel what you want them to feel.

You can be their blessing or their worst nightmare.

How do I know so much about Empathy?

Well.

My name is Leah Stronghold, and I was born with the ability to feel those around me.

It is a beautiful morning in the city of Maxville. The town is bustling with life. People are going to work, attending schools, or doing whatever humans do.

Birds perched on the electric line in the city, minding their own business, when a loud stomping sound caused them to fly away.

The birds flew towards a neighborhood not that far from the city. They flew past a house where a fourteen-year-old female named Leah Stronghold, with short-cropped dark brown hair, was sleeping.

An intense feeling of fear awakens Leah. She opens her eyes, which reveal a light green color.

Leah got out of bed and ran towards the window, pulling the curtains aside. She saw birds flying by and felt scared. She opened the window and looked at her surroundings when the house shook, and a stomping sound grabbed her attention.

Leah glanced at her right arm, seeing the hairs rise, which caused her to have goosebumps all over her body.

' I feel intense fright coming from the birds. But where is this intense anger coming from?' She says internally.

Leah's heart started beating rapidly, and she was unaware that people in the city were screaming out of fear and panic because of a monster.

People were running away from a massive sea creature that had come ashore, causing havoc in the busy town.

The monster was hungry and had its sights on the citizens of Maxville.

" I have to let Mom and Dad know what's going on," Leah says as she turns and runs out of her bedroom.

" Mom! Dad!" Leah shouted, awakening her older twin brother, fourteen-year-old Will Stronghold, from his slumber.

" Mom! Dad!" She continued, running down the stairs to the living room. There, she saw her dad, thirty-four-year-old Steve Stronghold, watching the news with a remote in his grasp. Meanwhile, her mom, thirty-four-year-old Josie Stronghold, was in the kitchen, watching what was transpiring in the city live.
