Two weeks later, it is Monday, August 22, 1994. An alarming sound awakens Leah from her slumber. She opens her eyes, sits up, and looks around, overwhelmed by intense excitement and nervousness.
" Ah! I need to get ready for school," Leah's brother, Will, shouted.
" Now I'm awake thanks to him," She yawned, getting out of bed and stretching.
She heard footsteps running around and a door opening and closing. She figured her brother was rushing to prepare for the day since it was the first day of school.
" Mom! Where's my jacket? I remember putting it on my chair in my room," Will shouted in the background.
" It was dirty, so I had it washed. Don't worry. The jacket should be dried by now. You can wear it after showering," Josie responded in the background.
Leah grabs the clothes and shoes she will wear for the day. She hears the shower running in the background and decides to relax by scrolling through her playlist on her cell phone.
Her eyes blinked when she received a text message from her best friend, fourteen-year-old Magenta 'Maj' Pinedo, whom she has known since middle school.
" Hey, are you ready for school? The bus came by my place. We should be heading to your neighborhood soon," Magenta texted.
Leah looked at the time and saw that it was 7:00 Am, meaning she had thirty minutes left to get ready.
" Yeah. Will is hogging the shower right now. Once he gets done, I'll shower and then get ready. You saved me a seat?" She texted.
" I have my bag beside me, so you are good," Magenta responded.
Leah's eyes blinked when she heard the shower stop running, letting her know her brother had finished.
" I'll see you in a bit," She texted.
She puts her cell phone in her book bag, grabs her clothes and shoes nearby, and walks out of the bedroom.
Will exits the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. He heard a door open and looked to see his sister stepping out of her room.
" Gross. Get dressed. Maj texted me that the bus is on its way here," Leah says, walking past her brother and closing the bathroom door behind her.
Several minutes later, Will meets his parents in the living room, dressed up and ready for school.
" I'm scared. What if my powers don't manifest while being in Sky High?" Will asked, looking worried.
Steve affectionately ruffled his son's hair.
" Don't be scared, Son. Have faith in yourself. Even though he's my rival, I know Boom will help you awaken your powers," He reassures.
" Boom?" Will gulps.
" Your Father's heroic rival. His name is Thomas Boomer, codename Sonic Boom. From what a friend told me, he retired from being a Super and is now a teacher at Sky High," Josie smiled.
" Ah," Will nodded.
Footsteps walking down the stairs grabbed the family's attention. They turned and saw Leah dressed in red, grey, and black. She has her school bag on her right shoulder.
