(Sota's POV)
{The Night before they leave)
I sat in the room where you were surrounded by space. I loved looking at the stars. It makes me feel... calm. Sighing, I stared at the sky full of stars. Then I heard footsteps."Oh, y-you come here too?" Wash asked nervously. "I-I can go, if you like."
I shrugged. "I don't care, do what you like." I never took my gaze from the stars.
"Does that mean I can join you?" He said with a hint of hope.
"Sure. Like I said, I don't care."
I heard his footsteps climb up the stairs and them being placed on the lounge chair.
"So... Do you come up here often?" He asked, hands behind his head, also staring up.
"Only when I'm nervous." My hands wove together and I placed them on my belly.
"Why are you nervous?"
"Tomorrow... what if things don't go so well? What if I get everyone killed?" I half-whimpered.
"Everything will go fine. You have the best fighters with you." He replied.
"I guess." I shrugged again.
"Shouldn't we be sleeping?" He sat up and looked at me.
I turned my head towards him. "Can't. Nervous. That's why I came here." I returned my gaze to the stars.
"Oh." Wash laid back down. "There's so many of them." He nodded to the stars above.
"Well, I think there's only one window dome." I smiled in my helmet, being a smartass.
"I meant the stars, smart one." He laughed.
"Don't take my saying!" I fake gasped.
"I will if I want to!"
"Fine. Then we aren't friends." I turned onto my side, away from him.
"Noooo don't be mad at meeee." Wash pleaded.
"Fine." I laughed full-heartedly.
"Remember the day you... you left?" Wash said carefully.
"Yeah... Remember the promise I made?"
"Yup... Even though you said you'd come back, I cried." He admitted.
"Well, I kept my promise. To me, promises never die." I paused, then said, "You actually cried?"
Wash sat up and looked away from me. "I know I know, lamest thing ever of all time."
"Don't beat yourself up about it. I'd cry if one of my best friends left to go on that kind of mission." I looked over at him.
"Really?" He turned his head toward me.
"Well, yeah. It's not often when a friend like you comes around."
Wash stood up and stretched. "I think we should go to sleep. Don't wanna oversleep."
"Who you talking about?" I laughed.
He didn't reply. He walked over to my lounge chair. "You're gonna sleep too."
"Can't make me." I sat up and looked at him.
"I can't force you, sure, but I can get you back." He picked me up and I hung on his shoulder.
"Hey! Let me go!" I laughed.
"No way! You're my prisoner now!" Wash tried to speak without laughing.
I watched the things we went by. When we got to my room, he threw me onto the bed.
"How was that as an escort?"
"Kinda bumpy." I laughed.
"Not all rides are smooth, kid."
"Guess so." I smiled.
"Hey I'm gonna go to bed. Night?" Wash stood in the doorway.
"Night."
He left and I got into my pajamas - a T-Shirt and fuzzy pants. Then I curled up under my blankets. Soon I was out.
