(Washington's POV)
I locked the door to my room. I can't believe I just... burst. That has got to be the most uncool thing... ever... of all time. Even though I wore my helmet, I put a pillow over my head and I bawled. I couldn't contain it any longer. My best friend, gone. She probably did die. I couldn't stop thinking about her. 'I'll come back.' Can she truly keep that promise? I pray that she was right. I keep telling myself that she's the best. The best of the best. 'She'll make it.' Eventually I cried myself to sleep.(Sota's POV)
•One month Later•
"Yes, Chairman?" I asked as I entered the room. I've been gaining their trust. For some, it was easy. For others... let's just say they have bullshit flags ready to go."You have become one of our most excellent soldiers. I've been wanting to tell you this but I figured that I should have watched you for a little while longer."
"I would have done the same, sir." I assured him.
"I know you would've. Now, to business. We have weapons that can entirely wipeout Project Freelancer, but I don't know if they have already found them and if they'll use them against us. I want you to send out a patrol to see if they're intact."
"Yessir. When will this patrol leave?" I kept the excitement out of my voice. Finally, after a month, I'd get some details!
"Hopefully, tonight."
"Alright. Oh, and sir? Would it be okay if I were part of the patrol?"
It didn't take him a second to answer. "Yes, that'd be swell. Dismissed."
I smiled as I got the people together. Soon, we were on our way.
•In the building...•
'Omicron, you getting this?''Yeah.'
More smiling continued inside my helmet. "Alright crew, we found that no Freelancers have been here. Let's head back."
"Soldier Shade," a private came up to me as we got ready to jump.
"Yes?" I smirked at the fake name.
"Did they really beat you at Project Freelancer?"
Now was the time to decide. Get out not or possibly wait for another month.
"What's your name?" I said as I walked to a window.
"P-Private Jones." He followed me.
"You really want to know?"
"Yes sir - I mean ma'am."
I turned to him and grabbed him by the neck. Strong enough to hurt, light enough to not strangle the poor guy.
"Nope. Also, one more thing... I'm Agent Minnesota."
I kicked the window and threw the guy out it. Guns erupted in their song of death. I started shoot and I walked backward as I shot. I jumped out the window. After falling a few stories, my rocket boots kicked in. I flew out if the world and back towards Project Freelancer.
I escaped, but I had worse wounds than when I came to the UNSC.~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
I saw the bay. I flew toward it happily. 'Home... or at least what I call home...' I winced at the pain of thinking, then winced again at the pain of wincing.
I flew in. No one was there except... Washington? Why is he just staring into space?
I tried landing on my feet, but the pain was too much.

(Washington's POV, a minute before Sota landed)
I come here often, staring at the stars. It's increased within the last month. What... what's that? There's something blue... Is it... it's using rocket boo- it's Sota! She's alive! Then I saw something wrong. Her flying seemed... different... then I saw it. Right as she landed, I noticed her wounds.
"York! North! Director! Carolina! Anyone!" I screamed as I ran to her.
Soldiers ran over.
"Help me get her to the infirmary!" I ordered. They listened. We got her to the infirmary. The medics rushed us out.
"Let me stay!" I pleaded.
"Sorry, we need to fix her up. I'll tell you when you can visit her."
"Thanks," I said.
I walked away and I cried. She was back. Sota was back and she'd live. The medics didn't say anything about her dying. All I cared was that she was back.
"Wash? What's wrong?" North came over.
"She's back." I said through the tears.
"Who is?"
"Sota. North, she lived. She's back."
"Sota's... back?"
"Isn't what I said?"
North hugged me. I think he was happy too.
