Ari's POV
"So, what's your story?"
I breathed in. "My story?" I asked him and he nodded.
"You know mine, what's up with you?" He said. I thought about it, and it only seemed fair. He told me his, I guess it was time to tell him mine.
"I haven't really talked about this with anyone, so, uh, bear with me." I told him and he nodded.
"So, as you know, I only live with my dad. No one else." I started. "Well, I used to have a great family. A younger brother and a mom. I was very close with everyone. Dad was my best friend. Mom was always there. Even my brother and I got along, and he was the younger one!" I laughed a little, trying to lighten the mood for what was about to come.
"My brother was three years younger than me. So when I was seven, he was four, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. She was such a fighter but ended up, sadly, losing the battle near the end of the year." I felt tears weld up in my eyes. "I was devastated for months because she was the only girl who generally got me at the time." I sighed. "But I was still happy to have my best friend, dad, and my brother. But when I was ten, my brother being seven, we were all driving in the car. It was a Friday night, and where we lived at the time, one of the biggest weekends of the year due to a festival they had." I sucked in a breath.
"But it was also very dangerous. We were driving home from some party, or something, and the passengers side of the car got hit. A drunk driver. And with our luck, my brother was behind the passengers seat, right where it was hit. They thought he would make it, but we didn't get to him in time." I felt a tear run down my face. I was crying now.
"I went back into the same mode I was when we lost mom. Now I had lost two people in my life, and I couldn't comprehend that. All I could think was, 'why did this have to happen to me?'" I said. "That's when I started to get into gaming. We had an x-box, it was my dads, but I used it more than anything."
"He called me Daisy all my life. But he stopped once we lost my brother." I sighed. "So that's why I use Daisy. It reminds me of my brother, and when things were good."
"You don't have to go on if it hurts." He said.
I was crying. "I-i can tell you the rest later. The school years weren't the best for me." I said.
"Hey," Sean said. "It's okay." He had his hand on my cheek. "You're okay." He kept repeating.
And before I knew it, we were leaning in, and soon our lips touched.
And in this moment, I knew he wasn't like the others.
