A collection of scenes I found in my drafts. Scenes I took out because they didn't make sense for the plot/I wanted to change where the story was going, or I didn't feel like they flowed well. I thought - given that they're here - I may as well post them, so here you go....

(The Captain, Thomas, Pat and Kitty search for The Creature)
"Known thine enemy. That's what we always used to say." Said the Captain, adjusting the stick clutched under his arm, ready to spring into action at any sign of the creature they were looking for.
"It's hard to 'known thine enemy' when it's from a different planet" Pointed out Thomas. He thought he had better things to do, and of course he was frustrated because of it, though he was often frustrated, so it didn't make too much of a change.
"Yes, but the principle remains the same. We must consider how we would react in such a situation."
"But we're not a slimy alien dogs!"
"Thomas! Don't be rude about Trevor!" Kitty said.
"Trevor!" Spluttered Thomas, "You can't call an alien Trevor!"
"Yes I can!" Said Kitty happily.
"But that's a silly name, it's not for aliens, it's for dogs, or fish, or....or hamsters!" Said Thomas, still surprised at Kitty's declaration.
"Whoever heard of a hamster called Trevor?" Asked Kitty.
"Well, not a Hamster, but Daley had a guinea pig called Trevor. He loved to roll around on the couch, and get fur everywhere. Used to drive me and Carol crazy, he did, but Daley loved him." Put in Pat, smiling as he reminisced about times gone by.
"Troops! We need to focus! This creature isn't going to find itself!" The Captain interrupted.
"Trevor." Corrected Kitty.
"But it will." Said Thomas, moodily. "It's a Ghost, the whole point is it can't leave the estate. Eventually it will turn up, so what's the point in this pretentious chase? I would be much better off practising my Art than participating in this pathetic twaddle."
"Art." Coughed the Captain sceptically to himself.
"What was that?" Asked Thomas, cautious of an insult.
"Nothing, just clearing my throat." He coughed a few more times, to illustrate his point, before picking up the pace a little, so the others had to half run, half walk to keep up. "In the Army we always used to say 'Known Thine Enemy'. We have to understand how our enemy thinks, in order to best them." The Captain explained, as he, Pat, Kitty and Thomas walked down a corridor.
"But in this case, we'd be trying to understand how an alien thinks." Pat pointed out. "Which may be a little more difficult."
"All conflict is fundamentally the same." The Captain began, using his 'about to launch into a long explanation' voice.
"Oh, spare us the lecture." Moaned Thomas, rolling his eyes. "This is hardly a conflict, we are simply trying to find a small creature. Personally I think this is a colossal waste of my valuable time. I should be working on my art, not trailing around after you lot on the tail of a slimy dog."
"Well I think it's very exciting!" Put in Kitty, her voice enthusiastic as always. "I can already tell Trevor and I are going to be great friends." She ignored Thomas' look. Or she didn't see it. "We're going to have picnics, and go for walks....." She continued, listing a stream of exciting activities for what she obviously considered to be her new pet.

(Julian and Humphrey head for the roof)
"I don't know why I'm here." Said Julian, to the head he held tucked under his arm, as he picked his way across the roof.
"You don't know why you're here? I'm a head, mate. How am I supposed to help you search?" The voice that sounded was muffled, but it definitely sounded at least vaguely disgruntled. This was probably because his mouth was facing inwards, towards Julian's elbow. "Could you just...." He trailed off, as Julian awkwardly turned him around. "Much better, thanks."

(And alternative ending, in which Kitty adopts the creature)
"Kitty, we've been through this. You can't call an alien Trevor." Said Thomas, sighing.
"But Trevor's a great name! And it fits him so well!" She headed in the direction of the creature, her earlier fear seeming to have evaporated.
"Kitty! Stand up at once. You'll get yourself covered in slime!" Said Fanny, raising her voice.
"It's alright Fanny, the slime disappears! Look." Pat held up his now slime-free hand. "The Ghost rules work."
Fanny shrugged and shook her head disapprovingly at Kitty, who was now petting the creature and was thoroughly covered in gunge. She strode out of the room, secretly intending to return later to see the creature, once they had all left.
"Hello, Trevor." Said Thomas walking over and patting him on the head.
"You called him Trevor! It's catching on!" Sang Kitty gleefully.
"Thanks. I think you just made their year." Allison remarked quietly to the Doctors.
"Oh it wasn't me." Said the live Doctor. "Us." He corrected, looking in what he thought was the direction of his past self.
"I'm over here...oh, never mind." Sighed the past Doctor. "But he's right, you know. It wasn't us at all. Trevor was already there."
They all looked at Trevor being petted and loved by an ecstatic Kitty, who was delighted to have a pet. In fact, all of the Ghosts were delighted by the situation, no matter how much they cared to admit. Apart from maybe Robin. There were a few moments of silence, before Alison eventually broke it.
"We can't seriously be calling him Trevor?"
