Against the odds

All the nerves

This is probably one of the most difficult parts I have written till now so bare with me if it's bad 😭

To say Shubman was nervous would be an understatement. He was terrified Firstly he was meeting his cricketing idol and secondly he was going there as his daughter's boyfriend. If this goes wrong, he might just get buried in the ground.
He was currently going to Sara's home, midway he had thought to turn his car around and leave but then he remembered he can't really do that. He reached the house and before entering looked at himself, he was wearing a black shirt and a black jeans, the classics. He was looking really good, well except he was too nervous to accept that. He calmed his nerves a bit and rang the bell. Luckily it was Arjun who had opened the door

"Shubman, Hi!!" Arjun greeted enthusiastically, happy to see one of his friends
"Hi Arjun"
"Come in please "
They went inside and Shubman sat on the couch.
"Mummy, pani lao na. Shubman Gill is here "
"Are I'm fine without water too " LIE. That was a lie because his throat was dry due to him being nervous and water would definitely help. Fortunately, Sara's mom still brought water for him and he drank it, feeling better.
"Hello beta. Apka naam Shubman hai? Sara and Sachin talk a lot about you "
"Hello aunty. They talk about me? Why?" Well his nerves shot up again. He was hoping they just talked about his cricket.
"Yeah, Sachin keeps saying how talented you are and Sara being your friend absolutely loves to talk about all your good knocks." Oh god, shock number 1- Sachin sir likes his game, shock number 2- he discusses it with Sara too.
"Where's Sara?" Shubman asked politely
"I'm hereeee" Sara said skipping down the stairs, happy to see him.
"Hi!!" She said once she was down
"Hello" Shubman giggled at her cute antics and controlled himself from pinching her cheeks.
"Where's Baba?" Sara asked her mother
"I'm here Princess" The man of today, Sachin Tendulkar had just entered and Shubman felt nervous. He hadn't been that nervous debuting for India.
"Baba come sit, look who's here"
"Shubman! How are you?"
"I'm good sir. Hope you're doing well"
"Oh ofcourse I am, what brings you here?" Shubman was stumped at this question
"I called him baba" Sara replied saving him
"Oh, for a lunch? You could've told me. I would've invited the whole team"
"No baba, we have to tell you something"
"What's it princess?"
"Can we eat first I'm hungry " Arjun said, obviously hungry.
"Okay, come I'll serve "
"Aunty, can I help too?"
"Are nahi beta, tum mehmaan ho humare. You sit I'll serve "

They had their lunch, with Shubman and Sara stealing glances at each other (more like Shubman looking at her like, I want to go home and her giving him a consoling look). It didn't go unnoticed by Sachin Tendulkar, unfortunately for Shubman.
After the lunch they all sat on the couch again, Shubman and Sara on the same couch and her parents on another. Arjun had gone to his room, knowing well what the conversation is going to be.

"So what do you want to tell us? Sara's mother asked
"Yes princess, what's it?"
"Well, me and Shubman are dating " She said that without stuttering once, so impressive. But then he did love her. Her mother's eyes opened wide and her jaw dropped while her father just looked (stared) at Shubman. This made Shubman quite uncomfortable.

"Do you love her?" He asked
"Huhh? Yeah... Yes I do " Shubman replied still nervous, in front of his idol
"Will you keep her happy?"
"Babaaaa!!"
"I'm talking to him, don't disturb "
"Yes, I'll keep her happy "
"Okay, then you're approved "
"I approve too " Sara's mom spoke
"Just like that?"
"What do you mean?"
"No I thought...  Nevermind sir "
"He thought, he'll have to beat you in a cricket match first to get you to aporove him " Sara said laughing
"That's not needed at all. He's talented and a gentleman. That's what matters " he said smiling at a now embarassed Shubman.
"Okay, baba now we're going "
"Where to?"
"To a secret place ofcourse, because we're both famous "
"Yeah, be safe "
Saying this all of them got up and Sachin sir hugged Shubman lightly.
"I approve you, but I hope you know your limits " he whispered in Shubman's ear. It made Shubman shiver but he quickly nodded. Ofcourse he knew, they hadn't even kissed. Let alone going over the limits. Even hugging her, holding her hand and kissing her forehead was enough for him. They went out and sat in Shubman's car

"Our story seems straight out of a Wattpad" Sara said suddenly
"Huhhh? Wattpad? What's that?"
"It's a platform where you can read books, but what I mean is our story seems like a novel"
"How so?" Shubman said driving the car
"A famous handsome cricketer fell in love with his idiol's beautiful daughter, sounds quite dreamy "
"But that's us " he held her hand and kissed it softly.

Omg, I don't know how I feel about this chapter. It was difficult to write. But next part is a cute date planned by Sara. So see ya soon byeeee
