Chapter 5 - Operation Legion

Today is October, ninth, a day before Naruto's birthday, three months have passed since team seven's mission to Wave, they are now training and everyone has been working together and getting even stronger, none of them have learned any new jutsu but all of them have gotten stronger physically, especially Sakura, she began to take training very seriously and has caught up to the rest of the team in all physical area's, part of this was thanks to the help and support from her team. Kakashi called it an early day for training and told team seven to come over to him for water and a mission briefng for tomorrow. Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura walked over and sat down on the grass, they grabbed some water and Kakashi began talking to them, "well done guys, that was a good training session, now we have an important joint mission briefng to go over, the reason for the briefing today is because we will be joining three other teams for an A-rank, possibly S-rank mission." Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura all nodded for Kakashi to continue, Kakashi saw this and nodded as well and continued his briefing, "We will be linking up with teams eight and ten on a joint mission to aid Zabuza Momochi and his team in securing an outpost on the border of the land of fire and water, our mission is to aid in eliminating the shinobi that operate the base and take it over, the enemy number around fifty so we will be outnumbered but most of their forces consists of genin, we will formulate a plan after we meet with the other teams, any questions?" Everyone said no, Kakashi then told them to be ready for a mission duration of at least one month, and to be ready by sundown, we leave tonight, they all said okay and left to get their supplies ready for the mission.

Naruto was ready for the mission already and he wanted to ask the hokage when Jiraiya was coming back before they left for the mission so that Jiraiya could test himself, Kakashi, Itachi, Shisui, and Shikamaru on becoming seal masters, he also just wanted to know when he would be back so they could talk as godfather/grandfather to godson/grandson. Naruto walked up the stairs to the hokage office, he was getting a lot of nasty glares on the way, this is why he wanted to just use the window to get in, the only blessing was no one said anything to him, when he reached the office he heard a boy inside yelling at the hokage about becoming a shinobi and that he was going to fight him for the tite of hokage, Naruto peeked inside and saw the hokage, his grandson Konohamaru, he wore white shorts, a yellow shirt, with ninja shoes, and a long blue scarf that was to big for him, his hair was brown and short as well, and his bodyguard/teacher Ebisu, he wore ninja pants, a ninja shirt, ninja shoes, a bandana on his head, and dark glasses on, Naruto had heard enough of the kids whining so he knocked on the door and entered the room, as soon as he entered, everyone looked at the door and had different reactions, Hiruzen was happy to see him but curious about what he needed, Ebisu was glaring with hate, and Konohamaru was staring at Naruto like he was his lord, Naruto would walk in but before he could speak Konohamaru ran up to him and said, "I am the future hokage and grandson of the current hokage, serve me!" This caused Naruto to sweat drop and ignore him, Konohamaru then turned around and tripped off his scarf and fell onto his face, he then rubbed his head in pain but then got up and grabbed Naruto by the shirt and spoke, "You tripped me didn't you, I am Konohamaru, the honorable grandson of the third hokage," Konohamaru was smirking because he knew Naruto couldn't do anything, Naruto was looking at the kid and then made the decision to humble him a little, he punched him in the head and then spoke, "I dont care if he's your grandmother, you dont talk to people like that and I'll punch you again if you dont recognize your wrongdoings," this caused Konohamaru to begin thinking, he was absolutely wrong about Naruto and knew what he wanted to do next, Naruto then continued talking, "Jiji, do you know when Jiraiya is coming back?" But before Hiruzen could answer that, Ebisu lost his mind, he yelled, "How dare you address the hokage's grandson and the hokage in such a way, your nothing but a demon and a fiend of this village, you should be on your knees begging the hokage for any request and it's lord Jiraiya to you, you monster!" Hiruzen was about to yell at Ebisu but Naruto put his hand up and smiled, Hiruzen smirked and sat back in his chair and opted to just watch the show, Konohamaru was intrigued but ignored him and looked at his grandfather again, Naruto laughed and then said, "are you done so that me and the hokage can discuss our actual business because you clearly dont have any business with the Hokage," this infuriated Ebisu but before he exploded again, he took a breath and calmed himself down, then he smirked and spoke, "Oh so the monster can talk back, if only your parents finished what they started and just killed you off the day you were born......." Naruto was releasing killing intent on a whole new level, Hiruzen was on his feet because the anbu were down and were in fighting positions ready to attack Naruto, they thought the nine tails was trying to break free but this was one hundred percent only Naruto's killing intent being released, Naruto ignored the anbu and had Ebisu about to piss himself but before he could, Naruto spoke with pain and anger, his voice was trembling and he was ready to kill Ebisu, "keep my parents out of this Ebisu, say anything you want about me but you keep my loved ones out of it, I know the truth about them so leave there memory alone or I'll rip your tongue out of your mouth and feed it to you," Kurama was trying to ease Naruto's mind and seemed to be calm but on the inside, Kurama wanted to rip Ebisu's head off, Hiruzen sighed and then addressed everyone in the room, "Naruto, calm down, anbu, he's fine, and Ebisu, I tolerated many things that were done to Naruto but we all know what you said was very wrong, his parents loved him very much, I'm disappointed in you but not surprised, Naruto will surprise you one day but today is not that day, your dismissed," Ebisu got ready to speak but then he was hit with killing intent from the hokage, Hiruzen then spoke again but this time with authority, "that was an order Ebisu, not a suggestion, do not take my calm demeanor for being okay to do what you want, I am furious but you are still needed so get out of my office before something happens to you," Ebisu was shaking with fear but knew he was no longer welcome so he bowed and left the office to wait for Konohamaru, Hiruzen sighed again and then got ready to address Naruto's questions but Konohamaru spoke up before he could say anything, "Jiji, I want Naruto to train me please," Hiruzen was shocked because he thought his grandson was spoiled for one but also he thought for sure that this interaction would've caused him to stay away from Naruto but instead he wants to be trained by him. Naruto had calmed down and was staring at the boy, he saw the resolve in his eyes and was intrigued by the possibilities of training someone but before that could happen, he had one question for Konohamaru, "Kid, if you want to be trained by me then you have to answer one question," Hiruzen sat back down and smiled because he knew what Naruto was going to ask, he wanted to see this interaction unfold in front of him with these two boys, Konohamaru nodded his head for Naruto to continue, Naruto then said, "what does it mean to be a shinobi, Konohamaru?" A minute went by with Konohamaru contemplating and then he had a lightbulb moment and thought he had the answer he was looking for, so he said, "to be a shinobi, is to protect the innocents, love everyone equally and fight for those of the village," Naruto smiled but then said, "those things are all important but not the correct answer," Konohamaru started thinking again but nothing came to mind, he then said, "I honestly don't know, what does it mean to be a shinobi?" Naruto smiled and walked around to stand next to the hokage and put his hand on his left shoulder and said, "ask your grandfather, he was the one who taught me what it meant and I owe him much for the path I walk today," Konohamaru was now super curious and looked at his grandfather and asked, "Jiji, what does it mean to be a shinobi?" Hiruzen smiled and then answered, "Konohamaru, to be a shinobi means to endure, a shinobi is those that protect but they also look danger in the eyes and tell it to bring it on, shinobi protect the helpless and innocent, they put their life on the line and show the enemy that they may bend but they will not break, they will fight, sacrifice, and find a way to push forward or give there will of fire to the next person or generation so that their will lives on, that's what it means to be a shinobi." Hiruzen and Naruto both stared at Konohamaru, they weren't sure if he understood but they waited to see his face, Konohamaru was in thought and it was all sinking in and he understood everything, he understood that shinobi's risk everything for the future, he now wanted to be a shinobi more than anything, he then looked up at Naruto and Hiruzen with resolve. All the anbu, Hiruzen, and Naruto all saw his resolve, this made the anbu's eyes widen, Hiruzen was surprised but happy, and Naruto smiled and said, "I see you understood, looks like I'll be teaching you everything I can. From this day forward, I Naruto Uzumaki pledge to be your sensei and turn you into a strong and wonderful shinobi, is that okay with you Jiji?" Hiruzen smiled and said, "sounds good, I'll put it in the paperwork that you and Ebisu are Konohamaru's sensei's," Naruto smiled, Konohamaru was ecstatic and was proud to have an amazing sensei, he then asked Naruto, "sensei, when will we start?" Naruto smiled and pulled out a seal, it opened to a piece of paper and pen, he began to write a training schedule for Konohamaru for the next month, he included into it that he would put weighted seals on Konohamaru, he would begin physical training to get his body stronger and faster, he would begin unlocking his Chakra for the last week before Naruto returned from his mission, Naruto put detailed instructions for each tasks, he then used a seal to make a copy and handed the copy to the hokage to make sure it was okay with him. Hiruzen was shocked at the amount of training and details for each tasks but he trusted Naruto so he approved, Naruto then spoke to Konohamaru, "Kono, I am going on a mission for the next month but I have a detailed training schedule for you, the next month will be very hard but I have faith in you and when I return, I will start training you more closely." This excited Konohamaru so he grabbed the paper and said thank you to his grandfather and now big brother and then he took off to tell his three closest friends, Udon Ise, Moegi Kazamatsuri, and Hanabi Hyuga, after he ran off he knew he'd have to ask big brother Naruto later if he would train them as well but for now he wanted to tell his friends the amazing news. Naruto was happy and then looked over to the hokage and told him, "I'll make him strong, that's a promise, I will train him to surpass me one day and pass on the will of fire, he is my first student and I hope he won't be my last, ya know, I wont let you down Jiji," Naruto smiled, Hiruzen was smiling at the boy and was extremely proud of him, he knew that he made the right choice and he agreed, "you will train so many of the next generation Naruto, I have put my faith and my will of fire into you," Naruto was still smiling but then the hokage cleared his throat to continue, "as for Jiraiya, he will be here before the chuunin exams, I will send him an urgent message that he is needed for evaluation on five potential seal masters, I won't tell him who but it'll get him excited so don't worry Naruto," this made Naruto excited but also worried, excited because he and everyone else would be official seal masters but he was scared and worried because what if Jiraiya didn't want to be his godfather, what if he doesn't want anything to do with him, Hiruzen saw the turmoil on Naruto's face and put both his hands on Naruto's shoulders, this brought Naruto out of it and he was staring at his Jiji, Hiruzen spoke softly, "Naruto, Jiraiya loves you and has hated himself for abandoning you, he won't do it a second time, especially since your going to give him a chance, he won't leave you again." Naruto was shocked but then relaxed because he knew his Jiji was right, he then hugged the old hokage and told him thank you and headed home for a few hours of seal training. Hiruzen was happy Naruto gave him a second chance after he screwed up his childhood but that was the Kushina in him, he would always give you a second chance but the Minato in him would never forget and if you messed up again, all you would see are those terrifying blue eyes that could kill you in an instant, Hiruzen sighed and then smiled because it was time to get back to his paperwork for the day.
