Reveal to me the secrets and weaknesses of your dear Avengers.
Nova stared blankly out the large window, tracing the buildings far below the palace, and the Valkyries who trained in the field. She imagined walking down there, a fresh breeze caressing her skin, warm sun beaming on her, training, and how it would feel so much better than being stuck in this room. Anywhere was better than this room. Well, except one place...
Her mind.
It started as a horrendous screeching in her mind, which was so severe every fiber in her body wanted to be ripped apart rather than endure it.
Reveal to me the secrets and weaknesses of your dear Avengers.
Over the last few days, it had quieted itself into a whisper. What pain was once physically torturous and sharp became a quiet- yet constant- order and a fog in her mind.
Reveal to me the secrets and weaknesses of your dear Avengers. Loki's voice echoed in her head.
But another voice promised that if the order was fulfilled, she would feel normal soon enough.
Another threatened that the emotional pain would drive her mad.
Another said if she did not fulfil the orders that the physical pain would come back ten times worse.
And all these voices said this at the same time. But you could hear each one independently. Constantly.
Whatever that staff did changed her. She was not only a prisoner in this room, but one in her own mind.
She slowly walked over to her bed and sat, absentmindedly staring at the room in shambles due to her last interaction with Loki.
The bed sheets were everywhere, vomit behind the dresser, chair's thrown on their sides, and vases shattered.
"When will the maids be here?" One of the guards asked his comrade, his low voice was a muffle as the sound passed through the door and into Nova's ear, which was pressed against it. She had been listening into their conversations lately; trying to gather as much knowledge on the outside world as possible.
Were the people nice out there? What was life like on this planet?
The guards didn't exactly give a good first impression of the people of Asgard beyond Loki. Guard one was cheating on his pregnant wife and Guard two was sleeping around with a different woman every other day for the past thirty years and was only now realizing that he might have an issue. Guard two was also turned three thousand four hundred and fifty-six last weekend when his child (whom he didn't know he even had) showed up asking if he were her dad. It wasn't important information, but Nova would take what little entertainment she had been given.
Today they actually had something important to discuss, although to them, it didn't seem so much.
"Have you seen the mess that Prince Loki left after his quarrel with the Midgardian yesterday?" Guard two asked, yawning halfway through the sentence.
Guard one remained silent.
Guard two cleared his throat. "We will be on break while the maids clean the room. We will have to knock out Midgardian, so she does not attempt to harm them."
Nova can see Guard one shift his weight to his other foot through the space between the floor and door.
"How long?" Guard one asked.
