All eyes were on Nova.
"How do you know of this lowly Midgardian, Lady Kaelar?" Odin asked, suspicion thick in his voice. His voice was the only thing that could be heard. Other than the sound of blood rushing through Nova's ears, or the loud thumping of her heart. Those were both very loud as well.
Natasha took one look at Nova and gave her a tiny reassuring smile -or maybe it was a smirk-, the one she always gave during a mission if Nova was afraid. Nova was fantastic at hiding fear, but Natasha could read her like a book. And the look on Natasha's face brought a wave of both relief and fear over Nova, because it was a look that said, Don't worry, I'll kick his ass.
"Midgardian? Yes. But lowly? I think abducting is pretty lowly, don't you think?" Natasha said, her voice was matter-of-a-fact with a hint of sarcasm.
Loki leaned in and whispered into Nova's ear, "You know that one, don't you? She is risking quite a lot, upsetting the King. She does this to distract everyone from your knowledge of a Midgardian, does she not?" Nova didn't respond. She was far more concerned about her friend possibly facing terrible consequences from trying to keep her identity safe.
"If abducting makes one lowly," Odin said, "then are you not a hundred times more lowly than I, when you have captured about a hundred of my men?"
"In our situation there is a clear line between abduction and self-defense."
Odin's words grew sharper and more aggressive as Natasha snapped back witty remarks with a cold stare. She seemed almost completely calm and unfazed by Odin, even when he threatened to throw her in the dungeons. The rest of the table began to yell at Natasha as Odin sat back in his throne, looking convinced that the disapproval of hundreds of people would harm Natasha in any way.
Rage bubbled in Nova's chest, her power being fueled and humming beneath her skin. "Enough," Nova said, but no one could hear her over the yelling and jeering. "Enough," she said, louder, yet it seemed no one would listen.
"You will have to cause a scene to gain their attention," Loki advised, a smirk appearing.
Nova pushed her power toward the ground to propel herself upward, whisps of light flowed from her, and the swirled scars on her body glowed so brightly that they could be seen through the dress. She sent a wave of energy through the room, and it shook. "Enough!" Not a soul spoke a word. They all stared at the woman who floated in the air surrounded by light with fear and shock.
Loki looked at her supple features and locks of hair that cascaded down her shoulders like a waterfall, and how her usually dark brown eyes now had bright gold flecks. She was beautiful, but the expression on her face was nothing short of intimidating and firm. She looked like she was the definition of power and beauty, beauty in power. And in the air, above even the kings' head, she looked as if she held all the power in the room.
"I am Kaelar, and I order you to leave Midgard's representative alone at once." The people and guards stared between the king and her, their fists clenched and faces going pale with the thought of the conflict that would be bound to ensue between the king and the Lady who yelled orders to his kingdom. "Release and seat her beside me."
"Take them both straight to the dungeons," Odins angry bellow reverberated against the halls, and he gave his cold one eyed glare to Natasha and Nova. Nova raised her fists which pulsated with energy waiting to be released...power that had been trapped inside her for four months, making her weak, vulnerable, unable to protect herself against the Asgardians. But now she could. She could protect herself and the only family that she had in the same realm at the moment, and she could show everyone that she was to be feared.
