CHAPTER NINE - FOUND FAMILY

when sarah and rory arrived at the girls house, they waited patiently for their other friends to arrive. although, the looming regret of leaving erica out was playing mindgames on sarah, making her question herself.

was she a good person?

but she has her reasons, that whole argument with erica was something that was unhealthy and she cannot unpack that tonight after everything she'd been through. so she has to live with the fact it happened for tonight only and she can deal with that and everything else tomorrow.

once as her other friends arrived, the thoughts settled for awhile, crawling back down into the secluded basement of her mind.

the five friends sat and watched some cheesy rom-com's as they knew they were sarah's favourite kind of genre, but it wasn't soon before everyone started to fall into slumber.

sarah's eyes also gradually start to weaken, threatening to battle the insomnia that has overtaken her the past few days. but jesse interrupts her state, "sarah? you still up?"

"mhm" she muttered back, her eyes remaining in an in between state while she stared at the blurry male infront of her.

"okay, just checking. goodnight." he smiled and headed to the door, there wasn't enough places to stay in this house and the three boys already took up the majority of the sofa. so she let him make his exit and succumbed into a deep sleep.

...

when her eyes fluttered open, her nostrils flared at the strange sensation floating up them, it smelled like...food?

as she finally managed to push herself up, the scent grew stronger and she wondered what was happening. to her luck, the three boys decided to treat her and make her some breakfast before the dreaded trip to the station.

as she struggled to consume the food, she slightly conversed with her friends to calm herself down but there was no use, her mind was just much more fixated on the night before. images flashed of kurt's body laid on the floor, blood trickling down his chin, his nonexistent expression and the mask beside him.

the mere memory caused her to jump out of her seat and run to the kitchen sink, hacking up what she had managed to eat. as she wiped her mouth with her hoodie sleeve, she turned her body to see the others looking at her with concern.

i'm a burden.

the stains on her sleeve caused her to take slow steps up to her room to get changed for the interrogation, her mind raced with wonders about what questions they were gonna ask her.

she threw some random clothes on, grabbing a hair tie and throwing up her hair into a ponytail, she wasn't bothered about making herself look presentable.

staring into the mirror at the sight reflected back at her, she didn't even recognise the girl inside of it. once upon a time, she'd see a girl with a bright smile, putting on her makeup whilst dancing to music. now all that stared back was the girl who barely smiled, the girl who was barely hanging on.

as she forcefully placed a smile onto her face, a familiar blonde knocked on the door behind her, "come in!" she exclaimed, feigning her excitement.
