After hitting 'send' on my phone, I close the screen.

Thank God!

I sent out my résumé to multiple businesses companies.

All the better, a dem me have distinctions innah; business subjects.

Me did wah go college but mummy couldn't afford it, and up til this day me a wonder how me no get no likkle scholarship, I was even the head girl at my school.

But a so life go.

I got 1 in Principles of Business, 2 in Principles of Accounts and 1 in Office Administration.

Oh and...1 in Maths, 1 in English, 1 in Chemistry and 3 in Information Technology.

Unnuh might a wonder how me pay fi 7 subjects, my mother didn't, the government did, plus I was on path.

And no, the people dem no sorry fimmih and pay fi dem, a because me did pass dem when me did innah a 10 grade.

Anyways, me need fi go grocery shopping today, cause me cyah git up everyday and a buy, buy food.

When I got up this morning, I gave myself a little tour.

Somebody just knock the door.

"Who dat!?" I shout when the person knocks again. Gyal, yuh feel a country yuh deh?

"Aarite, since unnuh navv no name and unnuh dumb, stay out deh," I hiss and walk off.

"Girl, come open the door, a Sadie!" I shake my head and walk back to the door. A shoulda yuh land lord make him kick yuh out.

"Me say if somebody a run me down fi kill me, me woulda neva run come a your door," She says and laugh when I open the door.

I join her.

"Anyways, welcome to the neighborhood," I smile and shake my head.

"Thanks, you may come in," She laughs and come inside.

I close the door behind her.

"A supermarket me did a go innuh, and me did a wonder if yuh wah come, me really like yuh company, plus yuh can get to know the place a little bit more," She chuckles and I smile. See! My first friend.

And what a coincidence.

Me neva have no friends when me did a go school, dem use to bully me because dem know say me me neva have, so me dud just stay by mihself.

And nobody uppa Stony Hill neva use to talk to me, dem always say me gwaan like me a goodie too shoes, just because me use to tan a mih yard. And bet if me did a fling self all bout dem woulda have all different shit fih say.

People just weird.

"Me a come deh, me ago go fih me back," I tell her with a smile. "And me like yuh company to," She smiles and I walk off.

Alright, so shopping it is, once me left back with at least $5000, me good.

Me bathe 'bout an hour ago when me wake up, so me good. I go to my room and take up my bag, spray on some cologne and take up my phone, then leave the room.

I'm wear a black 'batty rider' and a oversized T-shirt.

"Alrigh, me ready ya now," I tell Sadie.

"Okay," She stands to her feet and we both head towards the door.

"It bad, doh?" Sadie asks me before stuffing her face with fries.

"Yuh fawt," I laugh, she joins me. Grocery shopping spree turns out to me going to KFC for the first time.

After shopping, Sadie asked me if I was hungry, I told her yes and she asked me if wanted to go to KFC. Me did too hungry fi say no diss time.

From me left har house last night, me neva eat nothing after dat. Although me did use to dat.

Anyways...

Poor me ask the girl weh she a talk, and she pah me with a shocked expression and asked me if I was serious. Hell yeah, I was.

"Girl! Yuh missing out! A right there we a go," She said, and that's how we ended up here.

Me glad how she no judge me. She no stay like the pickney dem wah me use to go school wit', or the one dem wa live a country.

We're now at her house, eating, chatting and laughing.

Turns out the the supermarket we went to, she owns it. Nahh aske Christ if she rich.

She told me to take up anything I wanted, it's was fine, and I did just that.

I paid for the KFC though, Me did affi Sadie 'No' 'bout 20 times before she give up.

I bought a Barbecue zinger combo and a Famous Bowl, Sadie told me to try it, and me? No regret it one bit. Di food nyam good!

"Me fren a keep a party tonight, yuh wahh come?"

"Yes!" Me? When me use to live a country, all if the party a keep right a we gate, mummy woulda neva make me go, as much me a big woman.

And mih respect me mother, so me neva go, me use to stay home and read books pan Wattpad til' me drop asleep.
