My head was bowed, and my fists clenched. I knew someone was behind me, but I didn't dare turn, I kept walking, although my legs threatened to buckle. A noise sounded behind me. I stiffened but kept walking - the sound of a knife being pulled out of its sheath. My heart leapt to my mouth, but I kept walking. Heavy footsteps drawing closer. The path took a sharp turn, and I increased my speed, but so did the person behind me. Soon I broke into a run, but it seemed like there was no end to the path, and the person always seemed to be two steps behind me. I halted, and so did he. Then I felt a rough hand brushing down my arm, and I shuddered, then froze. Cold steel was trailing down my back, the knife pushing harder. I slowly turned, then slumped over as the knife hit its mark. Cold concrete met my cheek. I lay on the floor unable to move. Hot blood trickled down my back. My head throbbed so badly I felt it could burst. The man was gone. It was just me and the forest surrounding the path. It was silent. Too silent. I didn't know whether I was dead or alive, but the twitch of my arm indicated the latter. I groaned, then tried to get up. My eyes turned red, and the pain was a blinding flash—bad idea. I slowly lowered myself back down and stared at the dark grey sky.

My head throbbed so badly I felt it could burst. I deserve it, I thought. I deserve to die, just not this easy. I can't die like this. I can't die clean, and fast. I deserve a painful death. I deserve just as much pain as she had. Worse, even. I bit my lip, hard enough to taste blood, and pulled myself up. The pain was unbearable, but I felt numb. I brushed my hair out of my eyes, and continued down the path, leaving a trail of blood behind.
