17 - Family Dinner🥘
Mike's laughter echoed in the now-empty hallway as he watched Dunni running like her hair was on fire. He was tempted to follow just to see what would happen, but seeing her in his home was temptation enough, he didn't need more. Especially if his revenge plan was going to work. Miss Multi-talented Davies could turn a man's head for sure. Her fresh lavender and vanilla scent perfumed the hallway in her absence.
He left the hallway and returned to Mom's studio. He smiled at Eni as he dropped beside her. "Where is Mom?"
"Where is Dunni?" She gave him a quizzical look.
"I asked first," he rolled his eyes.
Eni stuck out her tongue before she told him. "She went to oversee dinner plans,"
"Nice, Aunt Eve must be around then."
"So you not going to answer my question," she frowned at him.
"Oh, you asked a question," he asked with fake confusion.
She hit his stomach with a pillow. "Abs of steel baby, I didn't even feel it." He said patting his stomach.
"Yen yen yen," She rolled her eyes.
"Dunni went to take more pictures," he smirked.
"More pictures?" Eni laughed. "Abi she just wanted to be away from you."
"Hey!" Mike frowned. "I'm great company."
"Whatever makes you sleep better sugar," She picked up her phone, ignoring him.
"Hey, do you have her number now?" She asked, as if she just remembered that.
"No," he smiled.
"Still?" Eni laughed in his face.
"I don't need it," Mike smirked. "I see her every day at work."
"Wait Dunni works for you? How?" Her shock was comical.
"You remember that new jewellery designer mom was raving about?" He smiled.
"Yeah," she gave him the hurry-up signal with her hand.
"One and the same," he nodded.
"And you are her boss?" At his nod, Eni cried. "Oh poor Dunni,"
"What do you mean poor Dunni?" He frowned. "I am a great boss you know."
Eni's only reply was to shake her head and snort.
"Take that back!" He pointed at her.
"Mike, I know you have zero plans of being a good boss to that girl."
"And you know this how?" It wasn't like she ever worked for him. Yeah, she worked on his house but he gave her free rein so he didn't act as her boss.
"You are petty. She ran out on you. Do the maths." Eni listed all the reasons. She was one hundred per cent accurate. And she wasn't even aware of some of the other reasons.
"I'm not petty," He disagreed as firmly as he could. He was very petty but that wasn't the point.
"Whatever you say," She turned to look at him. "But really how is Dunni working as a jewellery designer? Isn't she like an artist? Like painter artist?"
"Multi-talented that girl," Mike rolled his eyes heavenward. "You need to see her portfolio. Great designs."
"Wow," Eni smirked. "Must make it hard to fire her."
"What are you talking about?" Mike said in his fake incredulous voice. "I don't want to fire her,"
She just laughed and shook her head. "Eniola, what gave you this idea that I want to fire the girl?" Am I that easy to read? He thought watching Eni closely.
