Chapter 4: The School Day

First day of high school..
I'm kidding, I'm lying to myself. It's actually like the 60 or 70 day of school and it's awful. Today is probably the weirdest day ever. Especially because I literally got threatened the day before. Like if I looked upset today I just have to pull up an circus stunt and be like, 'No Ella, I'm fine. My hair got in my eye, that's why I'm acting like I'm having a mental breakdown!' Only morons can pull off something like that. Just be natural Pepper.
I walked over to my bathroom I share with Ella and brushed my teeth. I know which one's mine since Ella kept grabbing mine so I made mine black so it looked less appealing to use. I looked at my reflection as I was brushing the bottom row. My lovely pink highlights turned back to the normal blond. After I brushed my teeth, I finished getting ready. Ella was also getting ready but she takes longer than I do surprisingly. I walk outside, its cold as usual and I wait in Ella's car. Ella gave me a key for 'emergencies' so I turned on the heater so I wouldn't die from hyperthermia. I go on my phone and I see the message from last night. All by a random number.
Hey, you have friends right? Well if one of them is acting strange then they might have the ongoing flu!.. so don't report them for suspicious activity! Or else.
On the bottom of the text, it was a stupid link to a flu check with symptoms. What the hell is this about? Due to the texting style, this message is probably a broadcast for everyone but it's still mean. Like you don't threaten us to make your point across!
Ella finally walked outside and got in her car. She sighed and got ready to drive.
"So, did you do the homework in Science?" I asked, trying to start a conversation,
"What do you think genius?" She hissed, she didn't seem happy about going back to school. Honestly me too.
".. N-?"
"Hell no. I'm not doing weekend homework. They act like I have nothing planned."
She started driving to the highschool. She started complaining about her new job. People suck sometimes. Especially when they blabber about their day but hey, I can't complain. She'd probably would make me walk to school.
We finally get there and Ella and I start walking to our homebase. I'm happy the School Gods decided that I can have Cruz and Ella for homebase.
As I walked, I saw Dixie and this one girl talking near the entrance. Ella started walking to them, I guess she saw them as an escape from the weirdos of our class. The girl whispered something in Dixie's ear then looked at Ella. "Dixie, uhm still doing flute?" Ella said trying to find a conversation that both of them would be interested in,
Dixie didn't say anything and they both awkwardly looked at eachother until the girl said, "Yeah! I'm doing it with her. Anyways we need to head to class!"
With that, the girl tugged on Dixie's shoulder and they both walked into open doors of the building. This whole day is weird. First the message, now this? It's like my life is a movie that's for slobby 5 year olds.
Ella looked at me like the girls murdered her dogs. "How can they just walk off like that? That's evil," Ella complained as we walked into the building. I didn't wanna make her ramble more so I just kept silent.

Lunch. My favorite period. I get to relax with my friends and eat. Luckily our school is small and everyone eats lunch together like a family who cusses and beats up each other just because one person sat with the other person's crush. Today I sat with Zoë. I like switching tables from time to time and she let's me eat some of her food. I still eat my lunch but she has better stuff. Everyone was there except Dixie and Bree. Bree didn't come to the school since the she had the flu and Dixie sat with that girl from earlier, so it was just Zoë, Me, this kid named Ethan, Seth, Cruz, and a kid named Carter. Ella hangs out with her own friends.
"Hey is it just me or is Dixie and Bree acting.. weird?" Zoë asked me,
"Yeah! Dixie was silent near me and Ella today," I replied,
"Bree is saying she's sick but she's been fine til today, "
" Do you think it's like a hangover and there dealing with it since they used to be evil and such? "
" They have been having a hangover since sunmer? "
" No, it's probably like.. it happens every few months, "
Zoë laughed. Did she laugh to stop explaining it or did she laugh cause she thinks I'm stupid? I laughed along awkwardly.
Ethan and Carter stared at us like we were talking about their deaths. Carter eyes with more fear. Cruz and Seth were also staring at us with Seth having an angrier look and the 'shut up before I smack you and your mother' face. He makes that face alot when I talk.
I rolled my eyes at Seth then look across from me. I gasped. There was that girl again from this morning, sitting across from me. Her green eyes seemed to glow a bit as we stared at one another. Her face was emotionless like a doll or a magazine I seen at the hair salon. She lowered her head while still staring at me. Her mouth started contorting into a grin. As she smiled, blood started dripping from the edges of her mouth.
I shrieked in terror.
