|Ch. 3 Mistaken|
BRIGHT AND EARLIER the next morning, Dawn found herself along side Adam as they rode down an elevator. A district eleven uniform on her back that looked similar to Adams. A feeling in her stomach made beads of sweat form on her forehead. Adam glanced at her, noticing her fidgeting. He bumped his shoulder against hers. "Hey," The boy caught her attention. "It's alright, just breathe." He did a few deep breaths, waiting for Dawn to imitate him. She sucked in air and let out a long shaky breath. After a couple times, her nerves seemed to calm down. Giving Adam a silent thank you with her eyes.
The elevator doors open and reveals a ginormous training space that held any weapon she could think of. The other tributes stood around, waiting for some others. A woman was standing on a platform. Adam and Dawn took their spot near the back when the woman started to speak. "In two weeks, 23 of you will be dead. One of you will be alive. Who that is depends on how well you pay attention over the next four days, particularly to what I'm about to say. First, no fighting with the other tributes. You'll have plenty of time for that in the Arena. There are four compulsory exercises, and then the rest will be individual training. My advice is don't ignore the survival skills. Everybody wants to grab a sword, but most of you will die from natural causes. 10% from infection, 20% from dehydration. Exposure can kill as easily as a knife." She concluded and sent the tributes on their way.
Dawn and Adam walked away together, seeing the stations but also eyeing the other tributes. Bennett was right when he said district three only used brute strength, Dawn thought in her head as she watched the female tribute throw a heavy weight over her head. Adam stopped her. "We should split up, work on survival skills."
Dawn nodded. "Good luck."
"You'll need it more than me." The boy put on a charming smile, before turning his back on the girl. The girl only rolled her eyes. Looking around, Dawn settled on trying to build a fire. She knew it would be too risky to do it out in the arena, but there are some chance it might come in use.
Rubbing sticks together, Dawn made a face trying to figure out why it didn't seem to work. As she about to give up , a voice from behind her spooked her. "You're doing that wrong." The girl looks up to the voice and recognizes it to be Ravi Long.
"I can see that." She grumbled going back to rub the sticks. She failed once again. The boy chuckled at her before kneeling down next to Dawn.
"Here let me show you." Ravi said as he took the two sticks from her.
