hi! sophia here, so sorry about the short chapter earlier, i spent the whole day rearranging the whole story😔😔 but this chapter is (maybe) okay-lengthed for once🥲 i've got so many ideas but my hands can't type as fast as my brain churns these ideas unfortunately😔 anywaysss, hope u enjoy!❤️
I changed into my usual practice wear, an Under Armour top and black sweatpants, wearing a hoodie to shield me from the cold. Only a few really understand that skating serves as both my profession and a means to destress, helping me escape the troubles that weigh me down, Shoma was one of them.
As I walked towards the benches to put on my skates, I noticed two figures on the ice, a strange sight for the time. At the center of the rink, a figure spun effortlessly, adorned in a radiant, pearly white dress. But what really caught my attention was the presence of another figure. Clad in a dark red hoodie and black track pants, this person stood at the side, her gaze fixated on the skater before her.
" Yuzu-kun! You're here already? I just arrived!"
I turned my head to the familiar voice, walking towards me was Shoma sporting a gentle smile. I nodded, still watching the pair on the ice.
" So what's up? You only ever invite me to skate when you have something on your mind."
I get up, gesturing towards the rink, and leave. I'm acting totally immature and childish now, but Shoma gets it. He follows me to the rink, taking off his blade guards as he steps on the ice. I glide around the ice, my mind overflowing with thoughts, Shoma keeps up with me, skating by my side.
" So spill, what's going on? I'm getting concerned with how quiet you are."
So I do, I tell him all about Suzuka, how beautiful she looked in front of me, how her eyes were slightly gold under the light of the cafe, how I couldn't stop thinking about her the past few days, and how she's probably in the same almost-empty rink we are right now.
"What?!" Shoma, whisper-shouted, glancing at the two other people on the ice. "Which one of them is the lucky girl?" I can feel the playfulness in his voice and him nudging me in the stomach, trying to cheer me up, but I'm helpless.
" The one with the red hoodie." I answered, watching Shoma move around to get a better view of Suzuka.
"Then why aren't you saying hi? She's right in front of us," Shoma gestured towards the other pair on the other side of the rink, " it's just a simple greeting, it won't kill you."
*Shoma's POV*
I don't think I've ever seen Yuzuru this worked up about anything other than skating, it was a refreshingly new sight, finally after a long while he can take his mind off skating and focus on something else. I have to admit it was pretty funny to witness the beloved Yuzuru go through a rollercoaster of emotions at once.
Yuzuru makes no effort to hide his emotions when I suggested he go to her and say hi, his eyes widen immediately and he stares at me like I'm crazy. I chuckle at him, rolling my eyes as I push him towards the other side of the rink.
"C'mon you're The Yuzuru Hanyu, you've done way scarier things before." I whispered, trying to hype him up.
I gave him one last push towards the two girls, forcing him to finally make the first move, though I could already hear him curse under his breath. I'm down for a huge lecture from Yuzu-kun but it'll be worth it. I hope so.
