-Minho's POV-

For my fifteenth birthday, I was allowed to invite one friend to come over to my house for a sleepover after the party, of course I chose Newt. Newt was a year younger than me. His birthday was in May while mine was in September. Anyway, Newt and I decided to sleep in my treehouse in the backyard. Only thing I didn't know was that he wasn't mentally stable. His relationship issues were horrible, mother abandoning him, father favoring his sister, him getting blamed for absolutely everything that his sister did. Apparently Newt hated his family, Newt hated his life, and he never told me. We got everything we would need for a sleepover. Snacks, Drinks, Blankets, Pillows, Books -Newt was a bookworm-, My Nintendo ds, and tons of movies. My treehouse isn't what you would normally think of when you thought "treehouse". It was like an actual house built up in the tree tops. There was a wide octagon porch underneath the actual house, railing along the edges of the porch, and a staircase leading up to the porch that was also lined with railing. It was a single story treehouse but it was extremely well built and had hidden security cameras to make sure nothing bad happens. The inside of the treehouse had couches, a white fluffy carpet, a lamp beside the right side of the couch, a coffee table that was polished spruce wood which was able to be easily told apart from the polished dark oak wood that made up the rest of the treehouse, including cupboards, the porch, the stairs, the railings, everything. There was even a built in T.V. Anyway, back to what we had brought. We had brought two boxes of variety pack chips, a pack of sugar cookies, a fruit salad that Newt had made, and popcorn. The drinks consisted of apple juice, Coca-Cola, diet coke, water, and lemonade, all curtesy of Newt. We had brought four blankets, one large black blanket, a large brown blanket,  a large grey blanket, and a large white blanket. All the blankets were extremely warm and soft. Newt had brought two of his own pillows while I brought two of my own pillows. We brought my Nintendo ds, as I said, and we brought all the games I had. For example, Super Mario Smash, all the Five Nights At Freddy's games, Animal Crossing, and so much more. Newt had brought every single Percy Jackson book. No joke! He brought The Lightning Thief, The Sea of Monsters, The Titans Curse, The Battle of the Labyrinth, The Last Olympian, The Lost Hero, The Son of Neptune, The Mark of Athena, The House of Hades, The Blood of Olympus, The Hidden Oracle, The Dark Prophecy, The Burning Maze, The Tyrant's Tomb, and The Tower of Neuro. As I said, he brought every single Percy Jackson book. He also brought Red White and Royal Blue which he said was kind of like us. I don't know exactly what he meant. All I knew was that one of them was American and the other was British, but that isn't why I'm telling you this. I'll tell you exactly what happened.

Newt walked up to the house where I was already sitting on the porch, Newt loved to walk instead of taking up natural materials. He never necessarily looked like it but Newt cared more for the environment more than anyone else that I knew. "Hello Minho! Happy Birthday! Sorry I couldn't make it to the actual party, Rick Riordan was doing a book signing and I just couldn't miss it!" He explained. I gave a soft chuckle, "So your book series is more important than I am?" I questioned. "No! Never! I just-" I cut him off, "I'm messing with you sir Newton. I know how important those book are to you. I got them for you over the course of years! Those basically represent our friendship." I explained. Newt scoffed and hit my arm, "You are a bloody idiot Minho Parks." He replied. I hugged him and led him to the treehouse. Newt ran ahead of me and up the stairs. "Come on turtle boy!" He shouted. I smirked and followed after him as quickly as I could. "Don't insult me Issac Newton!" I shouted at him as I reached the top of the stairs. "Then don't call me that!" He replied crossing his arms. "What's so bad about that? It's who you were named after." I explained. He rolled his eyes and walked away inside of the treehouse. I walked inside after him and saw his setting up his blankets and pillow on the couch. "Are you kicking me onto the floor?" I asked him with sad puppy dog eyes. "Yes. Yes I am." He replied without looking at me. I scoffed and started to set up my things on the floor of the treehouse. Newt looked in his bag and pulled out around eighteen movies. "What movies did you bring?" I asked him. "The Princess Bride, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part Two, Star Wars: Episode One - The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode Two - Attack of the Clones, Star Wars: Episode Three - Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Episode Four - A New Hope, Star Wars: Episode Five - The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars: Episode Six - Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Episode Seven - The Force Awakens, Star Wars: Episode Eight - The Last Jedi, and Star Wars: Episode Nine - The Rise of Skywalker" He said. I laughed a bit. "You are such a geek." He glared at me. "Says the one who watched Miraculous Ladybug." He responded. I acted offended but deep down I really didn't care. I looked at him as he was trying to figure out which movie to start with. "Does the order of the movies really matter?" I asked him. "Yes! Otherwise you won't feel as if you are in the universe that they create for you!" He explained. I smiled warmly at him, It was adorable to see how invested he was in the movies he watches. I sat down next to him and looked at the movies. "How about we watch them in the order of years they take place." I suggested. His eyes lit up which always made me blush. "Great idea!!" He grabbed the Princess Bride and put it in the DVD player. We sat down and started to watch the movie for about the fifteenth time. No matter how many times we watch it, Newt and I will always end up crying by the end. After our movie marathon, I laid down to go to sleep while Newt stayed awake to read a bit more of his book. After a while, I woke up to Newt not being there and a loud thud, I went outside and saw Newt on the ground below the treehouse. I ran down the stairs quickly and ran inside to call 9-1-1 to get him some help. I then ran over to Newt and sat beside him and used my leg as a pillow for his head. I was on a call with the operator for about five to six minutes before an ambulance got there. The doctor Jeff picked Newt up and put him in the ambulance and I hopped in after them and took a seat Newt to the cot where Newt was laying. I pulled out my phone and opened the app that was linked to the security cameras of the treehouse. I thought maybe he slipped and fell, but I wanted to make sure. When I looked at the footage I saw Newt crawl around the railings to the other side which was by the edge of the platform so he was dangling above the ground. I turned on the audio and what I heard shattered my heart. "I can't take it anymore...my father favors my sister because I look more like my mother who abandoned me for something my father did! I hate them! I hate myself! I hate life! It's unfair and cruel!!" he screamed, I continued to watch the camera footage and the next thing I saw was Newt pushing himself off of the railing and onto the ground with enough force to possibly kill him if he was left alone. I felt to many emotions to count, rage for the unfair life he was given, heartbreak because he shouldn't feel that way, hatred for his family being so cruel to him, and doubt that I was quick enough to save him. Soon after, we arrived at the hospital and he was rushed into a room. A few minutes later and his father and sister rushed into the building. "Where is my brother?!" Sonya cried, "What did you do to him?!" His father Janson exclaimed. "I didn't do anything!! He- " I didn't want to tell them what he said or did, so I didn't. "He slipped and fell, I didn't do anything. It was an accident." I explained. Janson gave me an apologetic look but didn't say anything as he walked to sit in a chair to wait. "Thank you for helping as fast as you could." Sonya said. "It's no problem. Really, he's my friend. It was something any good friend would do." I replied. Sonya smiled and walked over to take a seat next to her father. After thirty minutes, a doctor walked out and called me back. "Why not me first! I'm his father!!" Jason exclaimed standing up. "Or my precious Sonya! His sister!!" He continued. "Because Mr. Issac has requested to see Mr. Parks first." The doctor explained as he walked into the room. I followed the doctor and saw Newt, I ran over and hugged him. "You scared me half to death!!" I cried. Newt hugged me back. "I'm sorry Minho... I shouldn't have done that." He explained. I sighed. "As long as you're okay. Besides, I didn't tell your family that. They think you slipped." I explained. Newt smiled, "Thank you Minho." He said softly. I smiled back at him and held his hand to comfort him. "I promise you that you won't have to go through anything alone again." I told him. Soon after, Sonya and Janson walked in. Sonya hugged her brother while Janson just stood in the corner. Newt noticed his father and his smile vanished, I honestly hated Janson. It was obvious he didn't care for Newt like he did Sonya. Janson once left Newt behind in the supermarket and didn't realize until I went over to his house forty minutes later to hang out, but he never loses Sonya as he makes sure that she is always in his sight. That was when I realized he wasn't looking at Newt but at Sonya, as if her being near Newt was going to make her leg randomly break. "Sonya I think that's enough. Let him rest and get better." Janson said blankly. I hated his guts, his son could have died and all he cared about was Sonya! If I could kill him I would, but for some odd reason... Newt seems to really care about his father. I think it's because he doesn't want to lose both parents. Sonya let go of Newt and walked up to me and whispered, "Video call me anytime you stay the night with Newt, I want to make sure he recovers. I don't want to lose him." I smiled at her and nodded. While me and Newt both hated the favoritism that Janson had towards her but Sonya was honestly really nice. She always made up for the lack of love Newt would get from his family. When their mother first left Sonya would pack Newt's lunches and give him a hug before school. After school during dinner their father would ask Sonya how her day was and she would answer. Then she would turn to Newt and ask him about his day, Sonya is possibly the most wonderful girl I have ever met. She turned away and walked out of the room saying "Get better soon Newt!" while Janson followed absolutely quiet like he was the entire time except for when he told Sonya they needed to leave. I turned back to Newt. "Promise me that you will never do that again." I demanded. "I promise." He replied. With that being said, I left the room to go to my house. I ran quickly to my room and opened my closet and grabbed a spare blanket and a pillow from off my bed. I then left my house and went back to the hospital to stay the night with Newt. Over the next few months, I would visit Newt everyday. One day, I got there and I overheard Newt and someone else. "You deserved to be here! You shouldn't have survived that fall!" a deep voice said. The voice was deep and untrustworthy. I knew I recognized the voice and I could feel my face burning with rage. It was Janson, telling his son that he should have died from that fall. "I'm trying to recover from the effects of your actions! Why are you getting upset with me for having a reaction to what you've done to this family?!" Newt responded. It sounded as if he had been crying. I walked into the room, but they were so caught up in their fight that they didn't notice me. "The doctor said that you needed a blood transplant for how much blood you've lost so that your body can heal. I don't know where you will get the money from or who you'll get to donate but I promise you that Sonya won't be getting involved in your stupid little attention seeking act!" Janson yelled. Newt froze, "I'm your son! Are you seriously going to let me die?!" Newt replied. "No son of mine will look like that idiotic woman." Janson replied. "What idiotic woman? I say he looks like a smart woman who decided to leave an idiotic man." I interrupted. Both of them looked at me. "Yeah, she left that idiot on the bed! I'm following her footsteps." Janson replied. "She was dumb for leaving Newt, but she was smart to leave you!" I responded. "I will do what you aren't willing to do. I will pay for Newt to get the transplant, I will find a donor, and if my blood will work than I will be the donor. I am not a selfish prude who will put himself first because of a petty situation from who knows how long ago! Your children are suffering because they don't have a mother figure. At least give them both someone to look up to rather than only giving one of them that ability." I explained. Janson glared at me. "I will raise my children how I see fit!" and with that, Janson left. I turned towards Newt and held his hand. "I'm not lying you know." I said. Newt smiled and nodded, "I know, but I would be okay with or without the transplant. I'm not weak you know." He replied. I smiled back at him, "I know."
