Becky let out a grunt as she fell to the grass, her left arm pinned beneath her. The roar of the crowd around her was drowned out by the sound of blood rushing through her ears, but above it all, she could hear Freen calling her name.

Pulling her arm out from under her, she pushed herself to her knees before grabbing the hand that Charlotte offered to help her up. Jogging past, Engfa slapped her on the back. "Walk it off, Bunso."

Becky gave her a mock salute in return, following her back to the offensive area for what would be the last face-off of the game.

Noey won possession. She passed it on to Charlotte, who was waiting by the wing. She carried it towards the offensive line, a defensive-midfielder riding her the whole way. She pulled clear and passed to Becky. Becky surged forward, stopping just outside the crease as she took her shot.

The ball soared past the goalkeeper's crosse, sinking into the back of the net right before the final whistle rang out, securing the Diversity team a win for the opening game of the Field Lacrosse season in first September.

The home crowd erupted, whooping and hollering. Over by the home team's bench, Yaya gave Becky a stiff nod, which was practically a standing ovation coming from her.

Freen was up in the stands, sandwiched between her uncle and Becky's moms. She was wearing one of Becky's old jersey's and was cheering louder than anyone else. Becky blew her a kiss with a grin.

It felt good to be back on the field. Becky's recovery had been long and hard. She'd put in a lot of extra work to get back in shape for the new season, training with Yaya after school outside of regular practise; and even on the weekends at Freen's house.

Yaya finally moved in with Nadech after he proposing to her. She'd sold her apartment, and the couple were using the money from the sale towards their wedding in a months. It was going to be a small affair, but they'd invited both Becky and her moms.

Becky jogged over to the team bench while the other girls hit the lockers. Yaya clapped her on the shoulder.

"Nice work out there, Rebecca!" She said, just as Freen and the others joined them.

"Excellent game, Rebecca." Nadech praised her.

"Thank you, Principle Nadech." Becky said, addressing her formally. She had started calling him uncle Nadech too outside school, and it felt weird.

"You did great na, baby!" Araya threw her arms around her, beaming every bit as much as the first time she'd watched her play. Becky hugged her Mami tight.

"I didn't know you were coming back today, Mami!"

"I couldn't miss the first game of the season!" Araya squeezed her tight then pulled back and ruffled her hair, much to her annoyance. Becky took off her headband before reapplying it, brushing her hair back out of her face.

"You did fantastic, baby." Ann agreed, linking her arm in to her wife's. "All that time you said you were training, I thought it was just an excuse for you to see your babe."

Becky blushed as Freen slipped her hand into hers. Beside them, Yaya's lips twisted in to a smirk.

"Oh Khun Ann, I had to drag her out of Freen's room plenty times when she was supposed to be 'training'. Turn my back for five damn minutes..."

Yaya had been working closely with her since her doctor cleared her to play sports again.

"I appreciate it, Coach."

"Any time, Becca."

"I'm sorry na, but me and wife need to get going. She's driving me to work. I'll see you kids tonight." Ann hugged her daughter, extending an arm around Freen's too. "Khun Nadech, Khun Yaya, we'll see you Sunday. You're still coming to us for dinner, right?"
