Danny (Pov)
As she walked away I could only stare after her because I knew she wouldn't like it if I followed her "Hey man" Spencer slung his arm over my shoulder "we should stay out tonight"
"Nope, tired" I threw his hands off
"Aww come on man, it'll be fun" I ignore him as I walk to my car.
I was excited when Spencer invited us to Larry's because it was a chance to get close to Mia, but we're as far apart as always. The drive home was met with silence.
How do I get her to understand how I feel without her thinking I'm a jerk? Unlocking the door, I was greeted with the smell of food "Hi hon dinner is ready" Mom placed the overstuffed turkey on the table
"Nah, I already ate" Mikey and dad sat at the table staring at me walk in as they waited for their plates.
"Are you sure?" I took the stairs two steps at a time to my bedroom "yeah" Shutting the door I flopped on the bed covering my eyes with a sigh "What a freaking day" My phone rang, and I pull it from my pocket with Spencer's name lighting up the screen "what does he want now?"
(Phone call):
"Hello?" I could hardly hear him because of the noise of the crowd in the background
"Yeah, where are you?"
"I'm at Mandy's house, Charlie hosted a party, you coming?
"No, I'm good"
"Suit yourself, have fun alone in your bedroom wallowing and sad, feeling sorry for yourself"
"Shut up man I'm not wallowing"
"You sure?" I looked around my empty room
"Fine I'll be there in fifteen minutes"
"That's the spirit man"
I hung up then grabbed my keys
"Where are you going?" Dad asked as I was heading out
"To a friend's party, I'll be back soon"
before he could ask anymore question which I new he was I walked out.
As I drove to Charlie's house, my mind was still on Mia. I couldn't shake the feeling that I messed up somehow, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it. Maybe I should just give her some space and let things cool off.
But then again, I didn't want to lose my chance with her. Maybe I could talk to Spencer and get his advice. He always seemed to have a way with the ladies.
When I arrived at the party, I could hear the music blaring from outside. It was packed with people, most of whom I didn't know.
I scanned the room for Spencer and finally spotted him in the corner with a group of girls. He saw me and waved me over.
"Hey man, glad you could make it!" he shouted over the music.
"Yeah, thanks for inviting me," I replied, trying to sound upbeat.
"So, what's up with you and Mia?" he asked, taking a sip of his drink.
"What do you mean?" I feigned ignorance, although I knew exactly what he was getting at.
"You know what I mean. You've been acting weird around her lately, and she's been avoiding you like the plague. Did you do something to piss her off?"
I sighed and took a swig of my own drink. "I don't know, man. I just feel like I can't do anything right around her. Every time I try to talk to her, she shuts me down."
Spencer nodded thoughtfully. "Well, have you tried being more confident? Girls love a guy who's sure of himself."
"I don't know if that's myproblem. I just feel like I don't know what to say to her anymore."
"Then maybe it's time to try something different," Spencer suggested, a glint in his eye.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, maybe it's time to be a little more... adventurous. Take a chance, do something unexpected."
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Like what?"
"Like... kiss her," Spencer said with a sly grin.
I almost choked on my drink. "I already did that"
"Did you do it right," Spencer said, leaning in closer. "Look, I'll help you plan it. We'll make it romantic, set the mood, the whole nine yards. Trust me, she'll love it."
I hesitated, still unsure. "I don't know, man. What if she doesn't ?"
"You won't know until you try," Spencer said with a shrug. "But I have a feeling she's into you, too. You just need to make the first move."
I thought about it for a moment, weighing the risks and rewards. It was a bold move, but maybe it was just what I needed to break out of this awkward phase with Mia.
"Okay," I finally said, nodding my head. "Let's do it."
Spencer grinned. "Awesome"
