"I..I told him no g..girl would ever date him because he was such a pitiful person who had nothing to offer" '
She was sobbing now clutching on to me "b..but I'm the pitiful one. I blamed my friend who liked me, for a guy who cheated on me only to turn around and have feelings for him" I could barely make out her words
"Who does that? what kind of friend am I?" I wrap my arms around her trembling body. "Katy it's okay, you too are as close as ever, He's forgiven y-" She pulls herself back showing me her puffy eyes and runny nose
"No that's how it looks, we can't be alone together anymore, it's awkward" I grab some tissue then shove it at her face "We are all friends aren't we, well minus Danny but we'll work it out, you'll see" I pat her back
"I guess" she sniffs
"Yeah, so don't cry anymore, you're ruining your makeup"
Her eyes go wide as she quickly turns to the mirror "oh no" she pats her face, well more like smacks it as she gives her cheek more color.
"Katy it's fine, no one will know" she straightened herself up smoothing down her shirt "you sure" I look her over, and apart from her puffy eyes you can't tell anything's wrong "yep" She continues to stare at her reflection sniffling here and there. Seeing her like this tugs at my heart.
I settle my hand on her shoulder "Katy it's going to be okay, you're a lovable person and if he liked you once, he's going to fall for you all over again" She smiles as I take her hand "now come on before the guys eat all the food".
When we get back to our table the food is mostly gone, and the guys are still trying to find other things to eat.
I see spencer's greedy hands go for my chicken "put that down!" I snatch it back before taking a big bite.
"You alright?" Spencer looks at Katy. She nods her head as she sits down "yeah, I'm fine" She gives me a look and holds up a subtle thumbs up.
Meanwhile, I try not to avoid Danny for the remainder of the time we're here. "I'm stuffed" I rub my pouch belly as we leave the restaurant.
"You ate a lot for a small girl" Danny holds the door open for me "Of course, you treated remember, so I had to. It was my duty to at least eat thirty dollars' worth of food" I ignore the smile on his face and walk away.
