“Babe,” Pat called me tapping me gently.
“Yes?”
“The others want to know if you’ll be joining them for a trip around town before we leave tonight,”
“Yeah, but first let me ask Chance,”
“He’s already downstairs with the others,”
“What? Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Because you were tired and we wanted you to rest,”
“What time is it?”
“Half past nine,”
“Has Chance had anything eat? I have to give him his medicine. I have to take a bath first. Why didn’t you wake me up earlier?”
“Relax babe, Chance already had his breakfast and his medicine. Just freshen up and join us downstairs,”
“I’d kiss you right now but I have to brush my teeth first.”
“You know I don’t mind,” she said giving me a kiss.
Chance and Pat sat at the co-driver seat as we made rounds around the streets of Kisumu.
We stopped for lunch at a popular food court before we went back to the house to relax and prepare to leave for the city. I wanted to go swimming with the others but I felt very tired and decided to bask in the sun.
My body felt off but I ignored it and continued watching the others play in the pool. I had initially refused to let Chance get into the pool but it being the last day I let it slide.
We started our trip back to the capital city after we had dinner.
“Is it me or is it hot?” I asked taking off my coat as we got in the car.
“It’s kind of hot but not that hot,” Eve said. I was still feeling tired and ended up falling asleep in the car. I woke up feeling cold and my whole body was shivering.
“I’m so cold,” I said looking for my coat. My teeth were chattering and I was in pain.
“Babe, are you okay?”
“Yeah I’m fine. I’m cold that’s all.” I put it on, got comfortable and fell asleep again.
“Babe, are you okay? You are burning up,”
“I feel so tired, I just want to sleep,”
“Chance, come sit here with me. Let mommy stretch out on the seat,” I heard Max tell him.
“Babe, lay on my lap,” Pat said leading me to her laps after Chance joined Max at the seat behind us. I fell into a deep sleep soon after and woke up to find Pat gently soothing my head with a cold wet towel and I didn’t have my coat on.
“You are up,” she said when I tried to seat up.
“How long have I been out?”
“Let’s say the whole ride back because we are almost home,”
“Where’s Chance?” I said quickly sitting up. My head started spinning.
“Here,” he was with Collins on the co-driver seat.
“Are you okay? Do you want to lie back down?”
“Yes, just got a little dizzy,”
“You had a very high fever but it has since gone down,”
“That explains the exhaustion,”
“Lie back down babe, we’ll go see a doctor later in the day,”
