“Why do you look so gloomy today?” Pat asked when she saw my face.
“Two of my employers sent me emails terminating our contracts. Apparently, the sites they worked for are being closed down,”
“Babe, maybe this is a sign that you should be your own boss,”
“I would love that but I’m not good at bidding or sending proposals,”
“How would you know if you don’t do it?”
“I tried it before and failed miserably,”
“Once, you are basing it on one experience. No one does it once and gets it,”
“Okay I’ll try it,”
“I know you won’t. I do hope you get another employer soon. I don’t like seeing you so down plus I know me telling you that I’ll cater for all your needs won’t do shit,”
“I love how you know me so well,” I said getting on top of her.
“I can read your mind,”
“What am I thinking now?”
“You want me to help you forget,” she said putting both hands under my top. I rarely wore a bra in the house.
“I should watch my thoughts around you,” I gave her a kiss as she played with my nipples. My phone rang just as things were getting heated.
“Ignore it,” Pat said.
“You know I can’t,” I got off her and went to answer it.
“Am I speaking to Elizabeth?”
“Yes, who am I talking to?”
“My name is Gabriel, Kev gave me your number, said you were writing for him,”
“Yes I was,”
“I’m looking for a good writer to join my team, are you available?”
“Yes, I am,”
“I would like to meet you in person. I hope you don’t mind, I like to know who I’m working with,”
“No problem,”
“Are you available tomorrow?”
“At what time?”
“At ten,”
“Yes I will be available then,”
“Do you know where Café Rosa is?”
“Yes I do,”
“I’ll see you then,”
“Okay, thank you,” I said and hang up.
“Who was that?” Pat asked holding me from the back.
“Some guy called Gabriel, he wants to employ me and wants to meet before we start working together,”
“When?”
“Tomorrow,”
“What? I have plans for us,”
“Please love, this is work related,”
“I don’t know, I thought family came first,”
“I’ll make it up to you,”
“How about you do that now?”
“What do you have in mind?” She kissed my neck, “I thought you’d say that,” I turned to face her. We didn’t make it to the couch.
The following morning I woke up earlier made her breakfast before I went to take a shower.
