“Why don’t you just buy your own car instead of wasting all this money on taxis?” I asked as we got ready to leave for one of our outings.

“It’s in the process,”

“When am I seeing it?”

“What do you mean?”

“Whenever you say anything is in the process, it means you’ve already done it,”

“Am I that predictable?” She asked laughing.

“Sometimes,”

“I’m going to pick it up on Monday,”

“Where?”

“At the port,”

“You are going to pick it up all the way in Mombasa? When were you going to tell me this?”

“Later on today. It’ll be a day’s travel that’s why I didn’t want to make a  big deal out of it,”

“Next time, tell me a week in advance,”

“I will, I promise,”

The following day after we took Chance back home we stopped by a pub.

“It’s been long since you and I had drinks together in such an atmosphere,”

“Yes it has. I almost thought you quit drinking,”

“I didn’t want you feeling uncomfortable,”

“What time are you leaving tomorrow?”

“Max is coming to pick me up at eight. The train leaves at half past nine,”

“Are you sure you’re coming back tomorrow?”

“Why?”

“If you were alone I’d believe it but if you are going with Max I’m certain it’ll take longer,” She laughed.

“I’ll be back tomorrow. I'll make sure I do,”

We got home and made love like it was going to be our last time doing it. Or maybe it was the alcohol because we were both tipsy.

“Hey Liz. Is Pat there?” the voice on the other side of the line asked when I answered my phone.

“Who is it?”

“It’s Max,”

“Why are you calling so early?”

“Early? It’s nine. I’ve been knocking on your door and calling both phones for almost an hour,”

“What?” I quickly sat up and looked at the time, “It’s nine,”

“Yes it is,”

“Give me a minute I’m coming,” I said getting out of bed. “Babe, wake up Max is here,”

“What is going on here? Why aren’t you ready?” Max asked when she saw Pat.

“It’s her fault,” Pat said and pointed at me.

“Mine? How?”

“After everything you did last night, it’s impossible not to oversleep,”

“I didn’t do anything you didn’t want me to,” I said kissing her.

“Enough guys, can you go get ready?” Pat went back to the bedroom to get ready and I made them breakfast.

“Baby, can you come here for a minute? I need your help with something,”

“In a minute love,” I finished setting the table.

“Help yourself to anything Max,”

“Pat,” Max called out.
