Right after the new year’s holiday, Laura joined the same university as mine, but for the course, it was different. Her first day with me at the university made me feel relaxed, most of her classes were next to mine that we often attended online just to be together. And sometimes coincidence did the work too. Our break time had a lot of fun, unlike those who just sit at the cafeteria and eat their meals. We rarely left the library; most of the time reading, earphones turned on while getting along with the bookshelves, dancing with passion never leaving each other hand. Our relationship was built  more on friendship than on love, what made us take proper care of each other.
“Did you have lunch yet?” I demanded.
“Yes, I did!”
I looked at her confused as I was expecting to have lunch together. But then she replied:
“a comrade of mine invited everyone for lunch, she insisted.” “she’s French by the way” she added.
“And look, she brought us gifts from Paris”.
She opened her backpack and started to show me things she received from her new friend. She got a small Eiffel tower, post cards, Laura was really obsessed collecting them, and in addition to that, a box of Macaron from one of the finest Bakeries in Paris.
“Now we have new things to decorate our room with!” I spoke.
Yeah! And by the way, I have something for you as well! Don’t move!”
She put her bag on the ground and ran fast to the upper floor to get something from her locker. I waited downstairs checking out the activities done by several students coming from different backgrounds. Some were exposing Indian dresses, there was also Thai food and a lot of other things; they all represented their home culture. When Laura came back, she was holding a bunch of books, I had no idea where she got them from, but they looked quiet old. She walked to me with extreme joy and handed me the three heavy ancient books she was carrying.
“Those are for you” she informed.
I raised my eyebrows up and my mouth opened like a Viking’s gate. She surprised me with those novels that I dreamt of getting, especially that edition. I kept touching the books all over, not believing how real they were. I could not believe the moment, until I saw the reflection of myself in her eyes.
“Hugo...Baudelaire...Proust!” I cried with amazement.
She looked at me and nodded her head feeling fulfilled for making my day. I kissed her on the cheek then looked her straight in the eyes and said thank you in a whisper. She glanced at me, looked down till suddenly, her friends saw her and hesitated to come near us. As she was standing in front of me, only when I looked behind her she noticed them waiting. The young lady would always introduce me to new people she meets to let me know who to find her with.
“Oh, those are my classmates” she grabbed my hand with an extreme sense of life, we walked slowly towards them, then she introduced to me people from different nationalities. She kept holding my hand until everyone has left. We sat at the cafeteria for few minutes and waited for the next bus to arrive holding one of the books Laura just got me. She laid her head on me following my reading, and her eyes fixed on my lips who were spelling words with different accents imitating the characters.
