The moment her plane landed, Laura brought out her phone and called me while I was asleep. When I received her notification, I stood up right away and returned her call.
-“hello-hello!” I said.
-“Hii dream boy, I miss you, more than a lot!” she replied
-“so do I darling, I slept crying about you” I confessed “are you there yet”.
-“yes, I just arrived”.
She walked out the airport as she was with me on the phone and got into a cab taking her home.
In the evening, she called again when she was in her bedroom and told me about how she spent her day with her two cousins and her beloved grandma who she hasn’t seen since her stay outside her motherland.
We kept talking for hours very late at night, messing with each other through the phone, until when we eventually fell asleep facing each other’s cameras.
When her grandmother knocked at the door to check on her, Laura was sleeping in total peace trying to combine those dreams with reality, so was the case for me.
In the morning, I noticed the call still on, and looked at Laura on my phone’s screen sleeping as if she was beside me.
-“good morning Laura” I whispered “I’m still here Laura”.
-“Laura!” yelled someone “ Laura!”
-“yes mother!” she answered as she held the phone and dropped it when she heard me talk.
-“are you okay? Good morning” I murmured.
-“ oh god, yeah I’m fine. Good morning” she replied still feeling dizzy from sleeping too late.
She went to the kitchen to help her mother with making breakfast, then she had a face to face discussion with her.
I spent the entire next days without Laura, we only had nights together virtually. We would watch movies together, facetime before bed, and even exchange photos of ourselves. We read for each other, wrote poems and love letters with deep significance. We count downed days and nights for her return, trying to speed up our meeting.
-“I read the book we got from the bookstore, it’s very, very good”
-“ I can equip you with more darling, you not only are a lover of wisdom, but a seeker for it as well, and I like that” I commented.
-“yes I am!” she said with excitement in her voice.
She turned off her room’s lights and she continued talking to me until calmness took over the call and we both fell asleep to each other’s voice.
