Sonic placed me down on the grass, 'Welcome to my favorite place to chill and hang with my friends.' He sat down next to me.

My eyes were wide in surprise, Sonic had run us to the top of a mountain, and the sight was beautiful. A cool breeze blew from how high up we were, ruffling through Sonic's quills and fur. There were clouds soaring high, with reflections of the sun's light at the bottom, which then went into a deeper shade. those clouds arched in the sky that went from a deep blue to a royal purple, fading into an orange and ending on the horizon with a bright yellow. Close mountains from Green Hill soared up into the sky as if they were touching the moon. Its shadows left an elongated shade that spread farther than I could see. The sun was setting over more leveled mountains, making the sun appear brighter and more powerful. I couldn't get my eyes over the sight.

'It's... beautiful.' I breathed out. I heard Sonic chuckle and I turned to look at him. His eyes were a much more serene light green in the light of the sun.

'Just let all your cares melt away.' He closed his eyes, letting the wind continue to move his quills behind his head.

I looked at Sonic, 'Thank you.. so much.' I looked up into the sky. I felt his hand touch mine, but I didn't look at him.

'I'm always here if you need to talk.' He told me.

I turned my gaze to Sonic, a warm smile was now on my lips, 'You're awesome, Sonic.' I gripped his hand tightly.

'Eh, I try.' He joked, making me laugh. I slowly moved closer to Sonic, not saying anything as I leaned my head on his shoulder, 'Just so you know- I'm not interested in you. You're great and all, but I'm not into romance and stuff.' He chuckled.

'Asexual and aromantic?' I asked.

He paused, 'Sure- whatever that means.'

I laughed quietly, 'What you said before. I'm not interested in romance and stuff. I'm *sexuality here*.'

'Ooh- cool. I'm going to pretend I know what that means.' He nodded to himself confidently.

'Eh- it's not too important.' I rolled my eyes.

I closed my eyes, 'You're probably my best friend, Sonic.' I said.

'Aw- thank you! I just want to make everyone feel good and wanted.'

Why... why is my job to kill them... he never did anything wrong... I looked down to where the light of the sun was captured on the water, shining and shimmering. The wind picked up ever so slightly, whirring could be heard. I picked my head off Sonic's shoulder, looking behind us where the whirring was.

Mangey was flying in the air. When he saw me, he landed on the ground and trotted over to me.  He nudged his head underneath my free arm, laying himself down next to me. I pet Mangey's ears gently, looking at Sonic, 'Sorry-' I let go of his hand and moved a little away from him.

He smiled, 'No need to apologize!' he laid down on the grass, 'I don't mind physical touch at all.'

I glanced behind me again, seeing nothing but trees and growing shadows.

Mangey looked to where I was looking, 'It's nothing bud.' I told him, my gaze going back to the sunset, which was now almost fully underneath the mountains.

Sonic stood up, 'Well, I'm glad that you're better. I'm gonna go see if any trouble has stirred up while I was gone.' He looked at me before speeding off down the hill, the wind following him, and a blue light left where he was standing.

I chuckled, 'Mangey... why do we have to do our job?' I whispered, 'I don't understand anymore..'

His eyes looked up at me, staring at me blankly. Then he curled up on my lap, closing his eyes.

My eyes lit up, 'I have an idea.'
