After Win had tucked a very sleepy Tess in bed, he'd gone downstairs to lounge with his mother and relive some of the random funny and interesting moments of the day. They were talking about Tess sticking up for Bright when Lita furrowed her brow. "Speaking of Bright, where did he run off to? I haven't seen him since we got back," she mused aloud.

Win frowned. "The lights are on in the barn, so I assume he's there. He got really quiet towards the end of the evening. I think maybe I hurt his feelings."

Lita frowned. "How did you do that?"

Win shook his head. "I don't really know. We had a run in with Gus after the tree lighting ceremony, and of course, that turned nasty. We all got a little angry, but after Gus left, he seemed like his normal self. But then we ran into Khao and I caught up with Khao for a minute. Khao mentioned that First had stayed with me for a couple of weeks a few years ago and then after Khao left, Bright asked some questions about First that were rather personal and I told him it wasn't my place to answer his questions. He said he understood, but he's been quiet ever since."

Lita nodded and said, "Ah, so you were where First ran off to back then," instantly realizing why Bright would be a little melancholy. Lita honestly didn't believe that Bright missed First anymore. It was more like a feeling of not being good enough to hold on to someone had settled into Bright after their relationship ended.

Win looked at his mom. "You said that like it makes sense to you. What am I missing here?"

Lita looked down. "It does. I don't know what you and Khao said, but Bright was the guy First was with while he and Khao were separated for a year. First is the only person Bright cared for enough to bring here to meet me. Bright was happy, but I could tell that First was not. His heart wasn't in it. It reminded me of how you and Lovely looked. Only I could see a selfishness in Lovely that I didn't see in First. I didn't know how long Lovely would keep her hooks in you, while I could see that it was only a matter of time before First realized he couldn't force his feelings for Bright and he would let it go and move on."

"I hated it for Bright, because it was the first and last time he opened himself up for someone

"I hated it for Bright, because it was the first and last time he opened himself up for someone. It's been a few years now and Bright knew that First was struggling to be with him. It was a really touchy time and Bright pulled First out of the depression that Khao had left him in. He carried him through it and then he could feel that despite his best efforts, First was still clinging to Khao. I think Bright was holding out hope that First would let go because Khao was being a fickle brat at the time, and then First took off for two weeks and when he came back, he left Bright."

"It was just a typical relationship that ended. One had feelings and the other didn't. First felt really bad for stringing Bright along, but he also felt that staying with him out of guilt was cruel and they both deserved better. It took some time, but the three of them are back on solid ground. They are friends. I know it's still a little awkward, Khao is a little jealous of Bright because he knows he can't compare to Bright and the only reason First came back to him is because First is in love with him and not because Khao won out over Bright in any other way."
