Vivian walked into her dorm careful not to make a sound. She was worrying about her encounter with Tom as she basically revealed that she used and knew well enough about dark magic. Her eyes widened at what she saw before her mind could process it any further. "Abigayle."
She whispered lightly. There stood Abigayle with Vivian's dark magic books, parchments and almost every little thing she knew. "What is this?" Abigayle looked like she was in shock. "Why do you have this?" She whisper yelled at her best friend."Look, I promise it's just research." Vivian scrambled to collect all of her stuff and put it back into her trunk. "What are you even doing going through my stuff?" She queried. "I forgot my blanket and I wanted to see if you had any extra." Abigayle sat on her bed and dropped her face in her hands. "It's not what it looks like. You know I would never mess with that stuff." Vivian lied. She had obviously messed with it, that's why people felt drawn away from her. The magic did that.
But she would never intentionally use it to harm anyone or herself even, it was just so... Eyecatching. "Look, I can't see you right now, Vivian." Abigayle looked frighten. "Abigayle, please." Vivian pleaded with her eyes. "You're my best friend." She continued on. "I just need a few days to think, alright?" Abigayle hesitantly climbed into bed, not facing her best friend. Vivian always feared that this would happen. That she would lose her only friend and then have no one else. It was inevitable.
Without another word, she climbed into bed and tried to get some rest for her first day at school tomorrow.

Vivian had woken up before her other dorm mates. She wanted to avoid awkwardness with Abigayle and give her space like she had asked, but they so happened to have most classes with eachother today. She made her way down to the great hall to quickly get some breakfast before heading off to her first class of the day. It was surprisingly busy for being quite early in the morning.
After breakfast, she sauntered down the halls to her next class. Vivian's thoughts were consumed by what had transpired the previous evening. Since Abigayle was essentially her only friend, she wished to keep her close. She entered the potions class and said a small hello to professor Slughorn. Slughorn wasn't exactly her favourite teacher. He always favoured the boys over the girls and wasn't exactly the best at giving instructions.
"You're ten minutes early, Caledonia! Someone is excited to start the new school year." Slughorn chirped. He sounded very lively.
"Yes, just so excited." She said sarcastically. After taking her seat near the middle of the classroom, she pulled out a notebook and began to get ready for the class.
A commotion of sounds began to emanate from the entrance. "Slughorn!" A large group of boys barked as they entered the previously empty classroom.
Vivian looked up to see Malfoy, Avery, Lestrange, Rosier and then, along with the loud group, a quiet Tom riddle appeared.
"Hello, professor." Tom nodded, a small smile rested on his face. "Tom, my boy!" Professor Slughorn beamed.
Tom's smile vanished as soon as he looked away from Slughorn's sight. It was almost like a fake. Just to satisfy Slughorn.
"Caledonia." Avery stopped at Vivian's desk. "Oh, look, my least favourite person." She smiled at her former acquaintance.
"How are you?" He asked, taking her notebook from her desk. "I'm quite alright." She snatched her notebook back before Avery could write or draw absurd things onto it.
"I'm glad." He looked over to his friends who had suddenly been silent. "I should.." Avery nodded towards his friends.
"Go." She smiled at her friend and he then began to walk away.
She could lightly hear their conversation.
"How do you know her?" Tom asked. "We had a class together last year. She's nice." Avery shrugged brushing off Tom's curiosity.
"Stop wasting time on pointless half-bloods." Malfoy chuckled. Everyone was aware of how seriously the Malfoy family took their blood status. "Oi." Avery playfully shoved Malfoy.
Vivian just rolled her eyes. More people began to arrive and take their seats.
"Right class!" Slughorn then began to waffle about the silliest stuff ever.
Before Vivian could zone back in so that she wasn't far behind in the lesson, she felt like someone was trying to infiltrate her mind.
She quickly did a blocking spell, then began to look around to see who it could have been. Her eyes landed on a certain curly haired brunette who was staring right at her.
He didn't even bother hiding the fact that he was staring right at her. She shuddered and looked away, confused.
After spending the whole class puzzled of why he tried to get into her mind, she began to pack up.
She waited until everyone else had began to leave until she finally spoke."Why so curious?"
"Pardon?" Tom asked, pretending as if he didn't know what she was speaking of. "I know it was you who tried to infiltrate my mind." Vivian said bravely."I don't happen to know what you're talking about." Tom refused to make eye contact. "You didn't try to hide it, Riddle."
"Why didn't you let me?" Asked Tom. "Why didn't I let a total stranger who I had officially met in the restricted section read my mind? I'm not sure, actually."
"How come i've never seen you before if you've been here since 1st year?" Tom asked curiously. "Erm." She thought about the question before answering.
Vivian knew she couldn't tell Tom the dark magic drove everyone away from her without them even knowing it. She just shrugged and began to walk away.
"Why were you in the restricted section?" Riddle asked before she could leave. "Why were you?" Vivian asked back.
"Why did you lead me to a book about horcruxes?"
"It was an interesting book, Riddle. You seemed like you were looking for something that was... peculiar." She finally turned to face him.
"Interesting it is, but I couldn't quite... understand it."His soft voice spoke. "Could you?" He continued on. "Quite a bit, yes."
"Teach me."
"I don't like that kind of magic, Riddle. It's not something one should be messing with."
