"Abigayle, I don't understand why I should be here. These past few years at this school have been the worst of my life." Vivian rolled her eyes as she slouched down on the train seat. "I promise you that this year will be different, Viv. You just have to try." Abigayle gave a small smile to the girl. "I do try."
Vivian had trouble making friends ever since she began tampering with the dark magic. Even Abigayle was unaware of her extensive knowledge of it, but it seemed to simply drive people away from her or cause them to avoid her because they sensed something wasn't quite right. "I know you do." Abigayle put her hand on Vivian's shoulder. "Hey!" A redheaded boy swung himself into the compartment.
"Markus Weasley!" Abigayle exclaimed, excited about seeing her best friend. Mark plopped down beside the girl and swung his arm over her in a flirtatious manner. "I thought someone would've missed me, although I never would have guessed this much." Abigayle joked, shoving his arm off of her.
Mark just rolled his eyes. "Hello, Vivian." His voice was stern and cold. Mark never liked Vivian. She had never actually done anything towards him, but he just had a bad, bad feeling about her. Magic, right? "Markus." She raised an eyebrow, barely acknowledging the boy. For the rest of the train ride Vivian just decided to read some books as she couldn't be arsed, with focusing on Abigayle and Marks' obvious flirting.
She enjoyed reading because it allowed her to escape into new realities, which she found unpleasant in her own. Given that anyone would want to be a witch, Vivian questioned why she had never taken to her own. Then again, who would want everyone to steer clear of them for reasons not even they know.At some point during her reading Vivian had dozed off. "Hey, wake up. We're almost there and you have to get changed into your robes." Abigayle shook her friend awake.
Vivian quickly woke up and went to the bathrooms to change into her school uniform. When she was exiting the bathroom her body collided with another almost making her fall over.
"I'm sorry!" She gasped trying to regain her balance. "That's alright." The boy glanced down at her for a few seconds. "Okay..." She dragged on awkwardly before walking away back to find Abigayle. Before being completely out of the tall brunettes sight, she turned her head slightly to notice him watching her walk away. Vivian stepped off the train then bumped into another person but this time she lightly squeaked from fright. "Why so jumpy?" Asked Abigayle. "Well, I just... Ran into some weird guy. I don't know." She shook her head and began to walk. "Oooo lalalala."

'I hate sitting here' Vivian thought to herself as the first years got sorted into their houses. Her thoughts drained off to the dark magic that she had grown attached to throughout the years. She could only really do it at night or when everyone had gone to hogsmade, and she'd sometimes stay alone.
She was snapped out of her thoughts as a boy frantically waved at her in a joking manner. She smiled and waved back realising it was one of her acquaintances from a class she had taken last year. Avery. She actually got along well with Avery which was strange considering most people avoided her or just never noticed her. But, anyway, she quickly looked away and waited for the time to pass.

"Show me your time table!" Abigayle jumped onto Vivian's bed practically snatching it from her hands.
"We've got some classes together!" "Have we got potions together? You know I can't do that class without you." Vivian frowned at her friend as she took back her timetable. "I may have spoken to Headmaster Dippet about putting us into the same class, or I'd sue for emotional trauma." She giggled as she nudged Vivian lightly."We should get to bed. Tomorrow's our first day and I don't want to sleep in." Abigayle got under the covers of her bed and turned off her lamp. Everyone else turned off their lamps also and began to get into bed and try to fall asleep. Vivian waited about half another before she slowly crept out of her bed, making sure everyone else was sound asleep.Vivian stopped abruptly as she heard Abigayle toss and turn.
After around a minute of waiting, she continued her move and began to make her way to the library. She wasn't going to do some late night studying. Like she did nearly every night, Vivian strolled down the dim hallways. Trying not to wake the portraits, she didn't use any light to find her way around. Vivian went into the library and made her way directly to the area that was off limits. She saw a shadowy figure persuing her books before she got to her favourite part on the dark magic.
She slowly approached, careful not to make any noise. Once she realised it was a student, she felt less worried about confronting them. "If you're looking for a good book, try the one to your right." The figure quickly turned around and drew out their wand. It was the boy she had bumped into earlier.
The strange, strange boy. "What are you doing out after hours?" He still held his wand up. "I could ask you the same thing..." She waited for the boy to give his name."Riddle. Tom Riddle. And I'm a prefect making sure people like you aren't out of bed." Tom lowered his wand and straightened his posture realising the girl wasn't much of a threat. "In the restricted section? Who's going to be here?" She scoffed. "You are, aren't you?" He asked the girl. She was about to defend herself but realised he was right, so she just stayed quiet. Tom then took the book from the shelf that Vivian had spoken about earlier. "How did you know about this?" A curious look came upon the tall brunettes face.
"Secret." A small smile tugged at her lips.
"Tell me." He took a step towards her, a threatening look slightly approaching onto his face.
"I should go to bed. It's getting quite late." Vivian walked over to the bookshelf and went onto her tiptoes so that she could put a book she had borrowed back. "Good luck with your book." She began to walk away from him and back to her dorm. She was upset that she couldn't explore more of the section.
She didn't want to risk anything.AN
