Skizzleman was slain by SmallishBeans

I looked up from the piece of steak I was eating at the ominous noise that radiated from my communicator with a message I never thought I'd see. I thought I would face the apocalypse with him. But it was too late. He was one of them now. A zombie. So close to the people we knew, but determined to kill us so they can live on with their twisted lives.

I'd lost Impulse before I'd even known what was happening, and our trio's down to two. I could only grieve for the friends I'd lost today. Suddenly, a hand rested on my shoulder. It was scott.

But not my scott.

Everything hurts. Everything reminds me of them. It's too late now. I need to live on in their memories. The real them wouldn't want me to die. Especially not at their hands.

"Are you okay?" Scott asked. I didn't even know he was there. All I could think about was our now painful childhood and the place both of them held in my broken memories.

Impulse, well not really impulse, oh gosh. Why did everything have to send me into an emotional spiral? He was riding towards us on a horse. I wanted to run down there and hug him, but I knew it would only result in me watching my life bleed out onto the grass while my friend held the knife that had slashed my neck. Surely it wouldn't be too bad? I would be with them, after all. We could be with each other again.

Joel scaled the side of the mountain, shooting arrows at me with his flame bow. That's not how I want to die. I'm not going down in flames, however epic it may sound. I ran to the world border only to hear someone call out "Skizz's here!"

I turned around, and he was scaling the mountain with a sword in his hand and the light of battle in his eyes. I could see the unnatural red gleaming in his eyes, red that I knew lurked in mine. It stopped me from being human like the rest of them. Everything tears me apart.

I ran from the man who was once my friend. He was always faster than me, and quickly caught up when I tripped over a rock. He held me down. My hair lit on fire in fear, reminding me once more that I would never truly be normal, and why not to let him kill me.

"I'm doing this because I want you back!" Skizz's voice was full of human emotion that reminded me he was still in there. He wanted to be with me. All I want is to go with him. To let him slit my throat with the shimmering diamond sword in his hand.

I pushed up on his chest and begged him to let me live for the both of us. In the time he held me down, everyone else had fled. I looked Skizz dead in the eyes and used his favorite phrase against him.

"You wanna dance? Let's dance!"

The pure joy in Skizz's eyes spoke for itself. He would have no hesitation in killing me. We sparred for a few moments, feeling the pain of each blow I struck against him as if it'd been against me instead.

A flash of pain. I looked down and saw a sword stabbed through my stomach. Joel had snuck up behind me and struck the killing blow. I threw my arms open at a death that I would never regret, as I would join my friend as a zombie. I hugged Skizz as my crimson blood dyed his torn suit a deep red. "I'm so sorry." He whispered. "It's the way things have to be."

I looked him in the eyes. I used my last breath to utter my final words.

"See you on the other side."

My eyes glazed over and I woke up with the familiar feeling of blood pounding in my veins missing. I was one of them now.

I stretched. I was out for blood.

Skizz ran over, out of breath. "We can be together now."
