"Happy four-thirty in the morning Jess!!!!" Claire said in my ear while laughing.
"That's a nice greeting." Chloe said from across the room as she brushed out her bed head.
"Yeah whatever, no time. I needed to wake up at four and I forgot to set my alarm. Thank you for screaming in my ear Claire." I said as I grabbed my hairbrush.
I went I to the bathroom brushed my teeth, washed my face, and out my hair up in a ponytail. Then I changed into my bathing suit and put my sweats over it. "I'm ready" I said to everyone as I sent my mom a text to tell her everything was going fine. Suddenly, I got a text from a random number.
508-217-6159: Hey what's up?
Me: Who is this?
508-217-6159: Oh lol sorry. Sam. from science?
Me: Oh hey Sam!I was surprised to be hearing from that jerk. He gave off a negative vibe towards me. I didn't really want anything to do with him outside of school, despite every single other girl who would chop off their right leg for a date with him, I saw him as arrogant. I quickly gave him a contact and a baseball emoji since he was on the baseball team.
"Who are you texting?" Avery asked me as she pulled a short over her head, getting it stuck in the process.
"You know Sam from school?" I asked "he is in my grade."
"Oh yeah I know him. Lily knows a girl who dated him when she was in kindergarten and he was in first grade. Insanity if you ask me." Avery said very quickly.
"Kindergarten is way too early. I kind of dubbed Sam as the kinda guy who would do that though." I said putting my phone in my sweatshirt.
"Ok I'm ready!" Claire said coming out of the bathroom with all her stuff. "Sorry to keep everyone waiting." She said looking for her room key in her bedside table.
"That's ok, I was just listening to these two gossip." Chloe said laughing.
"We don't gossip! After four years it's not really juicy news anymore." Avery said snapping her fingers and Chloe snapping hers back, they continued like this for about thirty seconds until Claire found her room key.
"Evacuate!" Claire said holding the door for everyone as we headed out of the door ready for the day ahead of us.
I think Sam texted me back, but turned my phone off so I could focus on my swimming right after responding to a good luck text from my mom.~#~
"Last race of the day, make it the best." Sydney said to me as i was getting ready for my 200 breaststroke. This was my most important race, the only one I really cared about.
"Good luck!" She said as I went down to the blocks. I situated myself behind my lane and began to get ready. The people in front of my faded away one by one and soon, it was my just me. The girl in front of me had dove in the water and was winning her heat. Hopefully, that would be me soon.
The final whistle blew and the girl in my lane had won by a landslide. The whistle for me to stand up blew and I got into position. I felt a surge of energy going through me and it took every inch of self control not to move before the buzzer. The buzzer blew and I swear I was off the blocks before everyone else. I nailed my pullout and always kept a body's length from the person behind me. I got to the opposite wall and Claire, Olivia, Caroline, Avery, Sydney, Lara, Anna, and even Maya were all cheering for me, and some of the boys who weren't swimming next.
I powered through the next 100 and then I only had one lap left. I got to the wall and everyone was screaming for me to go faster and push harder. I went as fast as I could and pushed myself all the way to the wall. The girl behind me finished and frowned as soon as she saw me, regardless, she shook my hand.
I was half expecting to make age groups. One the one hand I did swim a really good race. On the other hand, is that enough? I really hope so.
DUN DUN DUN!!!!!!! CLIFFHANGER!!!!! Even though Jessica already made age groups in her 200IM, will she make it in the 200BR??? Sorry there is no media this chapter. I was thinking of posting a picture of all the supporting characters but that will have to be the next chapter!💋💋💋
