with her heart drumming, she looked around the trailer with wide fearful eyes, almost as if the person who attached the note was hiding somewhere in here.

soon enough she noticed that she was alone, yet that wasn't a comforting realization at all. she grabbed the attached note, slipped into her normal clothes and got the hell out of set.

she didn't need to create conspiracy theories in her mind to know who the he is the note was referring to.

her mind was spinning like a wheel trying to make sense as to who would write that — was it a stalkerish fan of mike's that snuck into set to attach the note? was it someone working in the crew? was it anyone entirely else?

whoever it was, that note put her on high alert.

once she arrived at her apartment, she locked the door and closed all curtains as a way to try and protect herself. she knew that she was safe in her apartment due to the securities guarding it however, she should've been safe on set as well but apparently she wasn't if someone could leave a threatening message behind in her trailer.

what was she supposed to do?

she didn't want to alarm anyone just yet, this was just her first day on set and she's still on the way to be a rising actress, she can't afford to cause commotion and potentially risk the flow of filming.

the one thing that might calm the situation down without alarming anyone is simply to... stay away from mike.

maybe all she needs to do is stop the budding friendship between them and keep it strictly professional, to not interact with him unless it's necessary.

the thought of that alone left a bitter taste back on her tongue, she really enjoyed being around mike and giving that up is not something she's looking forward to.

that night, with lu right by her side, she could barely sleep.

the sound of wind whistling against her windows kept tearing her eyes open, the sound of people walking outside put her on high alert and hearing lu push the box of tissues on the coffee table in her living room in the middle of the night made her jump straight up in her bed.

the few minutes she actually could fall asleep, nightmares were chasing her.

so by the time el woke up in the morning to get ready for set again, her adrenaline was high yet her body was still tired from not getting the sleep she deserved.

she dragged herself out of bed, slipped into the first comfy clothes she could find and made a little stop on her way to set to get some coffee.

while sipping on it, she cautiously made her way to the hair and make up trailer, relaxing when she saw the familiar smiling faces of the hair and make up crew.

the radio was quietly playing the latest hits as el was undergoing through the process of becoming jane.

in her head, she was thinking of ways of not walking across mike today. it helped that they didn't have any scenes together scheduled for today so maybe whoever left the note would leave her alone and move on.

the knock on the trailer door caught everyone's attention, el locked her eyes on it through the mirror and was met with the sight of joyce byers peeking in with a small smile on her face.

"great, you're almost finished." she commented. "i just came by to tell you about some changes of today's filming schedule. we decided to shoot the mrs. geringer office scene today instead of tomorrow and swap it with the solo jane scene we were originally meant to shoot. it'd be great if you could be ready in about forty minutes, okay, honey?"
