"the room is nice." el said, wedging the phone between her shoulder and ear while kicking her suitcase open. "but you know what the actual highlight is?"
"you have a chocolate fondue fountain in your room." robin tried to guess without a second of hesitation.
"no, but i wish." el huffed a laugh. "there's a patio. and a private pool. right outside my room. and it's just for me and one other person. our rooms are connected through it. kind of. but it's a private pool and all for me!"
"oh." robin said slowly, "connected how?"
"like—" el walked over to the glass door, pushing the curtain aside. "side by side. and the patio leads straight into the pool. and it's all kind of hidden? we're facing the woods."
there was a beat of silence.
"el," robin's voice was laced in suspicion. "who is the other person?"
el bit down on her lip, closing the curtain again. "well... mike."
the silence on the other end lasted exactly one second before robin let out a snort-laugh that was so loud el had to pull the phone away from her ear.
she could already picture the expression tugging on robin's face without actually seeing it.
and that was without her knowing what had actually happened between them.
if robin knew they rehearsed their kissing scene just last week with their bodies pressed together while dry-humping until they both came — until they were left breathless and flushed... she'd probably never hear the end of it.
maybe she'd probably send flowers. or a congratulations cake. throw a goddamn "i knew this would happen" party even.
but robin didn't know. and el wasn't planning on changing that anytime soon.
mostly because... mike hadn't said a word about it since. he'd gone right back to how he always used to be after the shower he took that day. there's been nothing different in his behavior, like she'd never felt his erection rubbing her.
like it really was just rehearsal.
it was fine. really.
it just felt like she'd dreamt it.
"i should've helped you pack again." robin said smugly.
"thank god you didn't." el rolled her eyes. "you're insane."
"like you're normal," robin snorted. "anyway, i just wanted to check in. kiss lu for me and i swear i'll come visit once my schedule clears."
el glanced toward the bed. lu was curled up, one paw tucked under her chin, tail flicking lazily.
"will do," el murmured, reaching down to gently stroke lu's fur. the cat purred softly in response. "don't rush your visit."
"i'm totally rushing it." robin replied, "can't miss the look on your face after you kiss your childhood celebrity cru—"
"okaaay." el dragged the word. "love you too, see you. bye!"
she ended the call, throwing her phone on the bed as a sigh left her lips. she sat down next to lu and bent over to place a small kiss on the top of her head.
her fingers moved gently through the fur, mind somewhere else entirely. "this is gonna be a long month, isn't it?"
lu simply yawned in response as if she knew the question didn't need an answer.
because yeah. it definitely would be.
el had only arrived at saugatuck that afternoon. she wasn't even tired from the trip just slightly nervous because of the scenes to come and... who she'll have to film those with.
