Time had swiftly passed, marking five years gone by.
Four years ago, the marriage equality bill had been passed, and Top and Mew were the first to embrace this change, tying the knot in a beautiful ceremony held at Top's newly launched Hotel Resort. Top, an elegant groom in a light blue suit, and Mew, radiantly happy in his soft blush suit, made a perfect match.
That same year, Sand purchased a larger condo with three rooms where we moved in together. He lovingly converted one into my private studio and another into his personal office and workout space.
Three years ago, Jenna offered me a partnership to expand the business, and I suggested including Boston. Jenna readily agreed, and together, along with Ton's additional investment, we elevated the Photography Studio, now known as Power Photos, to the leading spot in Thailand. Ton's connections and reputation significantly contributed to our success.
In that year, Boston and Nick also tied the knot in a simple ceremony at the city hall, with only Sand and me as witnesses. To compensate the group for the secrecy, they threw a celebratory party at Top's hotel penthouse with unlimited drinks and delectable food.
Sand achieved his dream that year by founding a nonprofit organization with Nick, focused on providing medical and first aid training to underserved areas in Thailand. Funded by a government subsidy, Sand's personal donation from his income from the various investments with Top, Top & Legacy Hotel's charity sponsorship, and support from Boston's father as part of his political endeavors, the organization thrived. Nick was in charged of the office and admin work, while Sand spear headed the trainings, together with the 5 new licensed paramedics/trainers that he had recruited.
They've travelled a few times every year going to different mountainous villages, sometines going weeks or months at a time which I didn't mind, knowing Sand was happy with his new purpose in life. Sometimes, Ton or I would travel with them when there's lesser projects to provide free photo service for promotions to encourage donations. Sometimes, the four of us including Nick would go together and We'd treat it as a short breather from the chaos of Bangkok.
Each year since we started dating, Sand and I visited Pha Phun Dao Village for a month, where I reunite with my father, Tian, and the villagers while Sand conducts medical training sessions. My father welcomed Sand into our lives with open arms, and we envisioned retiring to the village someday, taking over from my father when he decides to step down.
Last year, Sand took me to visit Ray, although this was nothing new anymore as he had immediately introduced me to him the first month we started dating. What's different though is that Sand had asked me to marry him that day and he had wanted to do it with Ray as a witness because he wanted the man he considers his best friend to give his blessing to us.
I said yes of course and thanked Ray for letting me take care of Sand now, promising him that I will do so with all my heart and forever cherish the man we both love.
Today, I walk towards Sand, who was nervously standing on Pha Phun Dao Cliff waiting for me together with my father who was officiating the ceremony. The cliff was decorated with lovely string fairy lights and torches illuminating the usually dark place. With the thousands of brightly twinkling stars in the sky and our dear friends as witnesses to our love.
Nick beaming so proudly and prettily as Sand's best man. Boston and Tian were fighting who gets to be the man of honor for me, eventually agreeing to do it together, still bickering until the time they walked to their places, both so handsome as usual.
Through the dim light, I saw Sand's handsome face as I walked towards him, knowing he's my future and forever. My father, overwhelmed with joy, presided over the ceremony, witnessing my ultimate happiness was crying.
Sand: "Longtae, they said that falling in love so completely and so irrevocably could only happen once in everyones lifetime. I consider myself lucky to get my bonus chance when I met you. You broke through this very same clearing through the dark trail and straight into my heart. Thank you for finding me. I'll forever be grateful because through you, I found a new, better purpose for my life and you put back together my once broken heart. I love you so much and I will spend this lifetime showing you exactly just how much."
Sand teared up as he slipped the ring onto my finger and gently kissed it.
Longtae: "Sand, you were the only one who saw through the bright smiles and strong facade I had carefully hid myself behind. You discovered the pain and helped me to recover and trust again in the magic of true love. You're gentle reassurance and quiet strength is so admirable. I am so proud to love a man who made it a mission to dedicate his life to save as many lives as he could. You are perfect, and you are mine forever. As I promised Ray, I promise in front of everyone important to us now that I will forever love you, honor you and dedicate myself to only you. Always you, Sand."
I cried as I placed the ring on his finger and kissed it sincerely.
Sand and I found our second chance at love together. As we leaned in for our first kiss as husbands, we grinned, knowing we wanted no other lips for the rest of our lives.
A shower of falling stars illuminated the sky, and Sand and I hugged, whispering, "Thank you, Ray, for your blessings. Rest well now."
