Its a little understandable if you don't know this and no one is kind enough to tell you.
Its not understandable when you know and still continue to get it wrong. This is something that isn't really made a bid deal out of until you reach middle school, where all the teachers throw a fit if you get it wrong. I personally think as soon as ou start learning to read and write you should learn this.
Examples:
They: I asked a couple of my friends if they wanted to hang out with me today but apparently they they all have things to do.
Their: My neighbors need to hurray up and come home because their daughter is too much for me to handle.
They're (they are): All my friends said they're going to the birthday party down the street.
There: this word is used to point out a place where something is at. (My dog is over there)
