In order to create the best character you need to right down traits that you want your character to have:
Brave
Evil
Nice
Blonde hair
Red hair
Blue eyes
Green eyes
Tall
Short
Fat
Skinny
Thick
Humble
Old
Young
Mean
The list can go on for days. How your character acts or looks need to be built around what type of book you have.
If your goal is to get readers to connect with your character then you can always dab a little of yourself into the character. He or she can hate the same things you hate, look the same way you look. It doesn't matter. Its your story.
He or she can even be built around the person you want to be like a favorite superhero or a doctor.
If you always have trouble thinking up good names for your new characters then a good strategy would be to grab a notebook and start writing down a bunch of names you've heard or thought of. This truly helps so when you need a name you don't have to think so hard:
Tasha. Rick.
Nicki. Adam.
Rema. Jake.
Danni. Dustin.
