Jeremy's POV

I got a phone call from Fritz after my shift. I groaned, but answered it.

"Mike is awake!" he exclaimed once I put the phone up to my ear. I grinned widely.

"I'll be right over." I said quickly and hung up, hopping into my car as quickly as possible.

I rushed into the room full of glee. Mike smiled weakly at me. Warm streaks of tears ran down my face as I hugged him gently. He wrapped one arm around me and hugged back.

"I'm so happy your awake." I whispered into his ear.

"So am I." he whispered back. I felt so happy, that is until a few weeks later after that day.

//Weeks Later After That Day//

I walked back into the hospital room. It would be another few weeks until Mike was let out. I took a deep breath. I was about to ask Mike about... her.

"Hello, Jerebear." he said, smiling.

"H-hi." I smiled back nervously.

"Something wrong?"

"I need to ask you something, Mike."

"What is it?" he asked. I twiddled with my fingers. I bit my lip. There was a long pause between us. The ceiling fan twirled slowly above me, the light seeming almost too bright.

"Are you... I mean did you..." I struggled with my words.

"It's okay, Jeremy. Just say it."

"Did you date someone before me?" I ask quickly. Mike stares at me with wide eyes.

"Yes... why?"

"Was her name Doll?"

"Yes. Now, Jere, tell me what's going o-"

"Do love her more than me?" I kept asking him questions, tears filling my vision. Mike was silent.

"No, of course not." he said after a moment of hesitation. I smiled sadly, wanting to believe him, but my heart was shattered.

"Okay." was all I managed to squeak out. Mike looked at me sadly.

"I love you, Jere." I kept smiling, trying not to cry, and nodded. I left the hospital and went home. I kept that 'I'm fine, no worries.' face all the way home. Only when I went to my bedroom did I burst out into tears.
