At 14 weeks pregnant, the baby is as big as a peach, measuring 3.4 inches and weighing in at 1.5 ounces. Baby has almost doubled in weight in the last week or so and keeps on growing at super-speed. If you were to get a glimpse of baby at 14 weeks pregnant, you would see they're wiggling their toes and may even be thumb-sucking! A 14-week fetus's kidneys are making urine, and the liver and spleen are doing their jobs too. To stay warm, the baby is growing lanugo, a layer of peach-fuzz like hair on the skin. Don't forget to whisper sweet nothings to your little one—baby can start to hear!
I managed to finally spend the night in bed with her:
She lay in bed, her uterus stretching in pain. Her small moans of discomfort brought me to her bedside, and she was rubbing her womb, which had grown a bit in the last week.
"What is it?" I asked her. I had been reading up, but I didn't want to say anything.
"It...it hurts."
I got in bed and spooned her, then gently stroked her belly. "There...hey, you. It's late. Time for bed, little one, time for bed."
She sighed contentedly, laying back against me. "Oh, that's better."
"She can hear, you know."
"She can?" she paused, and smiled. "You're reading up, aren't you?"
"Of course, I am."
"She?"
"It's a guess."
"You want a girl?"
"I'd love a little you."
She laughed. "I was a sweetheart when I was little."
"You're a sweetheart now." I kissed her temple. "Relax. I'm not going anywhere."
"August, breakfast is ready!"
I snapped out of it. I was rock hard in the shower. One of the other ways to relieve the pain was sex, but I'd press that later, but sooner than later. Laying in bed next to her was hell at times. It had to be the same for her. It had to be. "Okay!"
I get dressed, and head downstairs. "Good morning."
"Good morning." She says softly. There is something about the look on her face today. She is smiling, and sweet, and....
"What?" I ask as I sit down.
"What...what?"
I look down at breakfast, which is my favorite: steak and eggs with hash browns a bit of toast. "It's not Saturday or Sunday."
"I know," she looks hesitant.
I sit back, wanting to dig into my breakfast of kings, but decide to hear everything before I do. "Let's hear it, angel."
