By the time you are 19 weeks pregnant, you might be feeling a little abdominal pain as your uterus stretches. Meanwhile, your baby is developing visible hair on the head and a protective skin coating called vernix. Vernix creates a waterproof layer that protects the baby's skin from amniotic fluid and dryness, while acting as a lubricant to help the baby pass through the birth canal at delivery. Energy storing white fat tissue are developing as well as brown fat, which helps keep warmth after birth. The first set of teeth are forming though you may not see them for some time. S/he will measure about 6 ¼ inches (15.8 centimeters) from the top of their head to the bottom of the buttocks (). Their height is approximately 9 inches (22.8 centimeters) from the top of the head to the heel (crown-heel length). By this week of pregnancy, your baby will weigh around 9 ½ ounces (272 grams).

You might also be experiencing , , , nasal congestion, , and food cravings. By this point in your pregnancy, you might begin to feel stretching along the sides of your belly called round ligament pain. This common, but sharp or stabbing pain in the lower belly or groin may catch you off guard when you change positions, cough, sneeze or laugh as the result of your uterus stretching, and comes and goes rather quickly. Ways to help yourself through this is by standing for shorter periods of time, changing positions slower, maintaining good posture, stretching and exercising. Another common symptom is brain fogginess and a lack of concentration, confusion or absent mindedness. Getting more rest, having a healthier diet, and trying to keep stress levels low are helpful. Keep up good dental habits because you are caring for two sets of teeth!

"How do you like it?" I ask her.

"This is...this is really good," she smiles. "Turmeric and ginger tea?"

"With cinnamon," I blink down at the stick in her cup. "We can have this everyday before dinner or bed."

"I liked that sandwich this morning."

"Salmon, egg and kale on grain?" I felt proud. "All good for you and baby."

"But..."

"But, what?"

"I want some hot wings."

"Hot wings?"

"Tomorrow?" she says pleadingly. "I'd like to get some hot wings from—"

"How about I make them here?"

"Are you going to cook for me till I give birth?"

"No," I say quickly, but I had to check out restaurants. "Grilled is better, and we can make our own sauce. How does that sound?"

"Winner, winner, chicken dinner," she laughs, but sobers slightly. "I'm sorry I haven't been cooking with you."

"You need a nap after work, I understand."

"But—"

I let my voice drop an octave. "And I need a little playtime with you after work."

She became breathless. "Oh, I understand that, too!"
