As Billie strolled away with our server

a knot of unease settled in my stomach.

I tried to focus on the menu, but my I couldn't.

following their every move.
The playful banter between them
Made my skin crawl

As minutes went by,
my patience wore thin.
I observed Billie's laughter, the way her hand lingered on the waiter's arm.

It made a spark of jealousy that I couldn't ignore.

Finally, I decided to get up and walk towards them.

Approaching them, I intercepted the conversation with forced calm,

"Am I interrupting something?"

Billie's eyes looked up at me
and the servers eyes leached onto me

The tension grew,
and in that moment, the flirting stopped

...

We were back in the hotel room

"Why would you just walk off like that, Billie?" I demanded

Billie sighed as she rolled her eyes,

"It wasn't what you think, she just wanted to warn me about the paparazzi, and I thought—"

I cut her off, my patience worn thin, "You thought it was a good idea to leave me sitting there, watching you two flirt? With a vibrator in my underwear?!"

Billie's face tightened, "I didn't realize it was bothering you that much. It was harmless,"

"Harmless?" I shot back,
I walked closer to her
"It looked like more than harmless. I felt like I was watching our "relationship" unravel right in front of me."

"Well, this isn't real, so calm down," she muttered.

"Oh," left my mouth

Billie's frustration matched mine, and she snapped, "You're blowing this out of proportion. It was just a conversation."

"Just a conversation? You were practically eye fucking each other! And who knows what you were even saying?!" I yelled

Billie's eyes rolled once more, "You're overreacting... making a scene out of nothing."

"Nothing?" I shot back incredulously.

"You don't get to decide what's nothing to me. It felt like you were more interested in our server than your own partner."

She took a step closer
"This jealousy is ridiculous. Again, this isn't real,"

"This isn't real?!" I scoffed.

"You need to make up your mind then. One second you're getting me gifts and being romantic, and next you walk away with someone who was clearly flirting with you, and now I'm the one being accused of overreacting?"

The room echoed with our heated words.

Billie's frustration grew, "let's be real. Our relationship is just for show, so don't expect me to actually commit to you."

I felt a punch to the gut
"What are you saying, Billie? Are you trying to invalidate everything you've said and done?"

She sighed,
"Look, we're basically business partners, nothing more. This romantic act is part of the image, don't confuse it with something real."

My heart sank, the weight of her words hitting me.

I whispered, "If it's all fake, then what's the point? Why should I continue pretending?"
