Meaka's POV
God, that was an entire disaster! Who in the right mind decides to ask the waitress's number right in front of their date?? I should call an Uber because there's no way in hell I'd want that disgusting bastard to drop me off!
A few minutes later, a silver-looking car drives to the requested location. I'm assuming that's my Uber since it describes the description perfectly, a Nissan Versa, silver. I check the license plate to be 100% sure before hopping into a stranger's car.
It matches the license plate, so I wave at the driver to signal him. He nods and drives slightly further so I don't have to walk to the car. "Hey," I greet him as I'm adjusting my sitting position. "Hello." He greets back.
"Okay, that would be 30 pounds." "Alright, thank you for the ride." I handed him the money he requested. "No problem." He replies. I walked up to the front door and unlocked it, pushing it open slowly. "Hey, honey! How'd it go?" My Mom asked excitedly hoping for a good outcome.
"Terrible! That rascal asked for the waitress's number and put his attention on her the whole time!" My Mom looked back in shock, then her face transformed into remorse. "Oh, sweetie. It's okay, there are plenty of guys better than him." She took a tissue and walked over to me.
"Here, you can let it out." she extended her hand towards my face, caressing it gently. "It's fine, ma. I'll just go to bed. I'm tired." I said, breaking eye contact with her "Okay, whatever you like." She said in a sweet voice.
I yawned in response, "Goodnight." I said my last words to her for today. "Night dear, rest well." I run up to my bedroom and close the lights to get ready. I don't even feel like brushing my teeth today, I said in my mind. I lay on top of my bed, slowly closing my eyes and drifting to slumber.
Suddenly, I'm woken up by police sirens. It's so early in the morning, why are their sirens so loud?? I turned around to the other side not facing the window where the source of the sound was entering from. I tried closing my eyes but, I overheard my mom downstairs talking to two male voices.
Their choice of words seemed strong, "She's up sleeping in her room." I heard my mom say, was she talking about me? Why? "We have to wake her up as this is urgent and needs to be discussed today." A male voice says.
"Of course, officer." Officer?? What are they doing here? and what the hell do they want from me? I heard loud, heavy footsteps making their way up the stairs. I felt some sort of fear not even knowing what I did wrong. So, my body automatically went into a sleeping position without me controlling my action.
Suddenly, my bedroom door swings open. I feel their presence around me. I heard someone approaching my bed. Please go away please go away I begged in my thoughts. A light hand touched my shoulder, "Meaka, sweetie. Wake up." My Mom tries to wake me up.
I opened my eyes slightly to peak but, she was staring right at me, catching me. The officers were also looking at me. "Meaka, these nice officers would like to talk to you." My Mom said pointing at them. The officers nodded in sync.
God, I probably look like a mess right now! So embarrassing. "Hello, Meaka. My name is officer Lachlan." The officer with dirty blonde hair introduces himself. "We need to discuss an important matter with you." He adds.
"Why? What do you want? I don't recall doing anything terrible in the past." I call out. "Yes, were aware of that." The other officer says. "But, this matter is slightly involved with you." He explains. "Others are being interviewed soon, so don't fret. This will only be a simple and short interview." He finishes.
